Alaska’s Credit Union 1 opened its third new branch of 2025 Friday in Skagway, about 800 miles southeast of its Anchorage headquarters by car on the Alaskan Peninsula.
Skagway followed new branch openings April 4 in Wasilla, about 40 miles north of Anchorage, and Feb. 14 in Kotzebue, about 540 miles north of Anchorage. Kotzebue is the first credit union branch inside the Arctic Circle.

“Because we serve Alaskans statewide, it means we’re not just focused on the most populated areas of our state,” Jessica Gallagher, CU1′s director of corporate communications, said in a Facebook video from the Kotzebue opening. “We want to give rural communities the services they need and the financial empowerment they need to succeed.”
NCUA data showed Credit Union 1 ($1.5 billion in assets, 92,614 members) had 12 branches and other locations Dec. 31, unchanged from a year earlier.

- EECU Credit Union of Fort Worth, Texas ($4.1 billion in assets, 292,552 members) announced April 16 that it has opened a new branch inside an H-E-B Frisco grocery store in Frisco, Texas, 50 miles northeast of Fort Worth. The North Frisco branch was EECU’s third branch to open in Collin County. “We’re excited to continue expanding our presence in Collin County with the addition of our new North Frisco location,” EECU President/CEO Lonnie Nicholson said. “We are grateful for our ongoing partnership with H-E-B.” It had 20 locations Dec. 31, two more than a year earlier.
- Patriot Federal Credit Union of Chambersburg, Pa. ($1.2 billion in assets, 79,356 members) announced April 4 that it plans to open two new branches this fall in the Harrisburg area. One is in Greencastle, 10 miles south of Chambersburg, and the other is in Spring Mills, 94 miles north of Chambersburg, which is 55 miles southwest of Harrisburg. Patriot had 11 branches Dec. 31, one fewer than a year earlier.
- DATCU Credit Union of Denton, Texas ($1.6 billion in assets, 109,642 members) announced in a Facebook video Wednesday that it is preparing to open a new branch soon at 8131 Gateway in Argyle, Texas. It had 14 branches Dec. 31, two more than a year earlier.
- River Valley Credit Union of Miamisburg, Ohio ($478.3 million in assets, 26,038 members) announced Tuesday that it has reopened its renovated branch in Middletown, Ohio, 13 miles southwest of Miamisburg and 25 miles southwest of Dayton.
“This re-opening is more than just a renovation — it’s a recommitment to the Middletown community and to serving our members with excellence, convenience and care,” River Valley President/CEO Lee Spivey said.
It had seven branches Dec. 31, one fewer than a year earlier.
