Paul Barenfus

The $776 million, Seattle-based Verity Credit Union hired Paul Barenfus as chief lending officer. Barenfus brings over 20 years of financial experience, having previously served in roles spanning from teller to executive leadership roles. In his new role, he will lead the transformation of Verity’s lending division, implementing forward-thinking strategies and programs while ensuring sustainable growth. Barenfus’ work will focus on developing innovative loan programs specifically designed to address financial inequities.

The $455 million, Rochester, N.H.-based HRCU announced three promotions.

James Auger was promoted to assistant vice president of special accounts. In his new role, Auger will lead HRCU’s special accounts team, playing a pivotal role by implementing effective strategies and other techniques tailored to assist members during times of financial hardship.
He is a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor through CUNA Mutual Group (now TruStage).

Chris Maxwell was promoted to assistant vice president of human resources. In his new role, Maxwell is responsible for fostering a positive employee culture and developing policies that embody the “people helping people” credit union mantra. Maxwell oversees HRCU’s staffing and talent recruitment as well as staff onboarding and training. He is a certified professional through the Society of Human Resources.

Sydney Albee was promoted to director of marketing. In her new role, Albee will lead HRCU’s expanding marketing and community engagement efforts to improve the credit union’s position in current and new markets. She previously served as a senior marketing and digital media specialist for HRCU.

The $2.7 billion, Rome, N.Y.-based AmeriCU Credit Union hired Eric Morgan as a mortgage loan officer. In his new role, Morgan will be serving AmeriCU’s newest financial center in Fulton, N.Y. A resident of Fulton, Morgan began originating mortgages in 2008 and has been helping thousands of people successfully navigate the mortgage process with personalized guidance and support since then.

The $420 million Earthmover Credit Union in Oswego, Ill., announced one promotion and one accolade.

Noreen Wilkerson was promoted to EVP of finance. Wilkerson has been with ECU for the past 37 years, serving as accounting manager and controller prior to her most recent role of vice president of finance. In her new role, she will play a larger part in executing ECU’s strategic plan. Prior to joining ECU, Wilkerson worked at Shearson Lehman Brothers in New York City.

Kelly McDonough, president/CEO of ECU, was inducted into the Credit Union House Hall of Fame. McDonough has worked in the credit union industry for over 30 years, holding vice president roles at two credit unions and serving as president/CEO of three different credit unions.
She holds a master’s degree in business continuity management from Norwich University in Northfield, Vt., is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin’s School for Bank Administration and the University of Missouri Columbia for Senior Management Institute, and earned her CPA designation in Vermont. McDonough served as Political Involvement Committee chairman for the Minnesota Credit Union Network in 2014, as director for the Minnesota Credit Union Network between 2013 and 2016, as Board chairman of the Minnesota Credit Union Network in 2016; as campaign finance chair for United Way of Olmsted County in 2013, and on the Political Involvement Committee for the Wisconsin Credit Union League in 2018 and 2019. She was also on a committee that brought the Wincentive program, a savings account that enters members into cash drawings, to Wisconsin. Currently, she is treasurer for the Fox Valley United Way Board of Directors.

Bob Cooper, Board chair for the $850 million, Midland, Mich.-based Members First Credit Union, announced his retirement after 26 years of leadership. He will be succeeded by Kevin Brott, who has served on the Board of Directors at Members First for over 40 years and is currently the vice chair. Brott is the executive director of New Dawn Shelter of Gladwin County and retired from teaching after 30 years.

The $935 million, Austin, Texas-based Greater Texas Credit Union promoted Shaun Dawson to branch manager. In his new role, Dawson will serve the state’s Rio Grande Valley community. He previously worked at the Edinburg, Texas branch for 25 years, starting as a teller in 2001. Since then, he has held various roles supporting all aspects of member services and branch operations. Prior to joining Greater Texas, Dawson worked in banking.

Jana Erny, president/CEO of the $1.3 billion, Louisville, Ky.-based Park Community Credit Union, was named one of The CEO Publication’s Top 20 Dynamic CEOs of 2025. Erny has served as president/CEO for Park Community since 2023. Under her leadership, the credit union has completed a brand evolution, deepened community partnerships and maintained a strong focus on financial empowerment and inclusion, particularly in underserved communities across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

The Illinois Credit Union League announced two new hires.

Brian O’Kelly was hired as a regional director. O’Kelly brings 16 years of credit union experience across lending, operations, finance and member experience. In his new role, he will support Illinois credit unions through in-person and virtual engagement – delivering solutions, connecting them to key resources and helping them achieve their goals.

Roberta Devorsky was hired as a compliance analyst. Devorsky brings over 20 years of compliance experience from the securities industry, including direct client assistance and over a decade in the broker-dealer community with NYSE and NASD firms. In her new role, she will assist in equipping credit unions with the information needed to understand relevant rules and regulations.
