Katie Grey Ferrell, Vice President, Compliance Services for governance, risk and compliance technology and consulting firm ViClarity, has a broad perspective on financial services compliance, having supported both banks and credit unions in various roles over the past 20-plus years. Working remotely from her hometown of Vicksburg, Miss., she’s now about three months into her new role at the West Des Moines, Iowa-based ViClarity, where she’s tackling the challenge of adjusting to a new job in the midst of chaos and uncertainty on the regulatory front.

In this episode of "Shared Accounts With CU Times", Ferrell discusses how credit unions can stay agile as financial regulations remain in flux, how to create a culture of compliance, and ways smaller credit unions with fewer resources can stay on top of compliance tasks. We also visit a topic that appears to have lost momentum in recent years - cannabis banking - explore the differences between credit unions’ and banks’ approach to compliance, and learn about all the lesser-known benefits of a compliance career path.

Ferrell also gets us all hungry for a hearty Southern meal during a conversation about life in the Magnolia State. Get out your compliance to-do list, pour yourself a glass of sweet tea and give this lively episode a listen!
