Dana Brock

The $3 billion, Virginia Beach, Va.-based Chartway Credit Union announced three promotions.

Dana Brock was promoted to vice president of credit operations and services. Brock joined Chartway in 2001 as a teller and evolved into roles with more responsibility in both lending and operations. She most recently served as director of consumer lending. Brock holds Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor and Credit Union Development Educator designations, and previously participated in Filene’s i3 program. In her new role, she will lead credit-related strategy and functions for consumer lending, optimizing profitability by balancing risk management with competitive pricing strategies and innovative credit products. This includes overseeing credit policy and operational standards to ensure alignment with the credit union’s risk appetite and business objectives and collaborating closely with risk, compliance, finance, technology and member service teams to ensure seamless credit operations.

Kelsey Jones was promoted to vice president of business intelligence. Jones joined Chartway in 2021 as a business analyst before transitioning to director of business analytics in 2022. She has participated in professional development programs including Next Level Leadership and Filene’s i2 program. In her new role, she will advance the credit union’s analytics and data-driven strategies to enhance member service and experience, oversee the business analytics and data engineering teams, and provide enterprise-wide data leadership.

Jace White was promoted to SVP of talent engagement. White joined Chartway in 1999 as a part-time teller and has since held various roles across retail banking, lending and human resources. Most recently, he served as vice president of talent acquisition and engagement. In his new role, White will drive strategic initiatives to attract, engage and retain top talent, and foster a thriving workplace culture. He also will leverage data-driven insights to guide workforce planning, pay equity strategies and team member experience enhancements, as well as work collaboratively across departments to align talent strategies with Chartway’s business objectives and cultural priorities. Additionally, he will oversee talent acquisition, engagement programs, workforce analytics and diversity initiatives, ensuring that the credit union remains competitive, inclusive, and aligned with its core values and purpose.

The $1.5 billion, Alexandria, Va.-based United States Senate Federal Credit Union hired Don DiMatteo as chief lending officer. He brings over 35 years of experience in lending and financial services, having previously spent 17 and a half years at Wells Fargo, where he managed retail branches and lending operations. He also spent nearly 20 years at State Department Federal Credit Union ($2.9 billion, Alexandria), where he served as SVP of lending and managing director of member experience. In his new role, DiMatteo will lead the credit union’s lending portfolio, oversee loan operations and drive strategic initiatives that align with USSFCU’s mission to provide exceptional financial services to its members. DiMatteo currently serves as chairman of the Board for the Metropolitan Area Credit Union Managers Association and is a frequent speaker and instructor at national conferences, including America’s Credit Unions events. His accolades have included being named the CUES Exceptional Leader of the Year and Corporate Leader in Personnel Development at Wells Fargo. He also earned credentials from NAFCU’s Management Leadership Institute at Duke University, the CUES School of High Performance and the CUES School of Applied Strategic Management, where he earned his Certified Strategic Executive designation. He is also a certified high school sports official, officiating basketball, volleyball and softball.

Lisa Shoemaker

The $850 million, Midland, Mich.-based Members First Credit Union hired Lisa Shoemaker as vice president of lending. Shoemaker brings over 34 years of experience in the financial industry, with a strong focus in lending, as well as expertise in lending technology platforms, online banking systems, electronic services, project management and strategic business planning. She previously served as EVP of mortgage lending at a local credit union. In her new role, Shoemaker will oversee M1’s mortgage and consumer lending teams, focusing on implementing innovative technology solutions to enhance member and staff experiences, and collaborating with leadership to offer products and services that foster financial well-being and drive credit union growth.

Candescent, an Atlanta-based digital banking platform provider serving more than 1,300 banks and credit unions, hired Gareth Gaston as chief product officer. Gaston most recently spent more than a decade at U.S. Bank, where he most recently served as chief digital product officer for enterprise platforms.
