Redstone Federal Credit Union of Huntsville, Ala., on Tuesday opened a branch in Hazel Green, Ala., 15 miles north of Huntsville.

Redstone ($7.8 billion in assets, 813,194 members) built the 5,400-square-foot branch in response to the area’s growth, member demand for services and to support its existing student-run branch at Hazel Green High School. “We are thrilled to open this new branch in a community that’s seeing such exciting growth,” President/CEO Joe Newberry said.

“Redstone is dedicated to providing financial solutions that help our members achieve their goals. This new location allows us to offer even more personalized service to our members in Hazel Green and the surrounding areas.”

NCUA data showed Redstone had 43 branches and other locations on Sept. 30, three more than a year earlier.

Also, Texas Trust Credit Union of Mansfield ($2 billion in assets, 136,176 members) announced Jan. 27 that it had bought the landmark Skymark Tower at 1531 North Cooper St. in Arlington for $8.7 million, and will move its headquarters there later this year.

Renovations to the 124,000-square-foot Skymark Tower will include painting the iconic pyramid-shaped top of the building blue to reflect Texas Trust’s signature color.

Texas Trust Credit Union bought the Skymark Tower in Arlington for $8.7 million to be its new headquarters later this year.

“The location is one of the reasons we love the site so much,” President/CEO Jim Minge said. “The size of the existing building and the adjoining land give us ample room for future growth on one piece of property.”

Texas Trust has nearly 140 employees working at its current location at I-20 and Little Road, a building it purchased in 2012, which is 10 miles southwest of Skymark Tower. Arlington is smack dab between Fort Worth and Dallas. The credit union has 17 branches in the area, plus branches in San Angelo and Athens.
