PenFed Credit Union’s commitment to supporting the financial lives of servicemembers and veterans runs deep. One way the $32.7 billion, McLean, Va.-based credit union is living up to this commitment is through the PenFed Foundation Veteran Entrepreneur Program, which is appropriately run by a PenFed executive who is a veteran and an entrepreneur himself.

In this episode of "Shared Accounts With CU Times," you’ll meet Terry Williams, SVP, Global Fixed Assets & Corporate Security for PenFed and Director of the PenFed Foundation Veteran Entrepreneur Program. Before joining the nation’s third-largest credit union in 2019, Williams served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 32 years, attaining the rank of Brigadier General, plus founded a consulting firm specializing in facilities management, logistics innovation and executive coaching. In our interview, he discusses the unique challenges veterans face and how the PenFed Foundation’s program is helping them gain access to capital, mentorship and educational opportunities. He also shares the results of a recent study conducted by the program on the best U.S. cities for veteran entrepreneurs to live.

While organization and discipline play a huge role in Williams’ day-to-day life, we also get a peek at his creative side - outside of his work with PenFed, he uses AI to write thriller novels, compose Christian music and develop code. What?! To learn about this fascinating endeavor and much more, give this episode a listen.
