Washington State's largest credit union announced Wednesday it plans to open two more branches in the state by the end of the year.
BECU of Tukwila, Wash., near Seattle ($29.7 billion in assets, 1.5 million members), will open a second branch in Kirkland, 11 miles east of Seattle across Lake Washington, where the credit union has more than 28,000 members. Kirkland is in King County, which includes Seattle, Tukwila and 37 of BECU's 63 branches and other locations, according NCUA data as of Sept. 30.
BECU also will open its first branch in Stanwood, 53 miles north of Seattle. Stanwood is in Snohomish County, where it has 11 branches.
BECU has previously announced plans to open branches in Tacoma in February, Seattle’s White Center neighborhood in March and Spokane in April 2025. BECU said it expects to hire six employees at each of its new locations.
“With these additional new locations, 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for BECU as we work to better serve our members and grow our community impact,” Jason Rudman, BECU’s chief member and digital experience officer, said. “Expanding our footprint will allow us to better support the causes closest to these communities to drive even greater local impact and provide the tools and services our members need to feel empowered in reaching their financial goals.”

- TRUE Community Credit Union of Jackson, Mich. ($877.2 million in assets, 80,677 members) announced Wednesday it has begun building a new branch in Livonia, Mich., 20 miles west of downtown Detroit and 60 miles east of Jackson. It is scheduled to open by year’s end, and is being built behind the current branch it will replace at 36525 Plymouth Rd. The 2,930-square-foot branch will have two self-serve kiosks inside and three Interactive Teller Machines (ITMs) located outside. The credit union had 15 branches on Sept. 30, three more than a year earlier.
- Granite Credit Union of Salt Lake City ($859.2 million in assets, 36,253 members) opened two branches in Utah on Jan. 6 as part of its celebration of its 90th anniversary. The new credit unions opened one branch inside the Latino Mall in West Valley, Utah, 11 miles southwest of Salt Lake City. It opened the second at 9383 South 700 East in Sandy, Utah, 18 miles south of Salt Lake City. Granite had 10 branches on Sept. 30, two more than a year earlier.
- cPort Credit Union of Portland, Maine ($417.7 million in assets, 34,840 members) began construction this month for a new branch in Lewiston, Maine, 35 miles north of Portland. Construction is expected to be completed by late summer and a grand opening is expected this fall. The credit union had five branches on Sept. 30, unchanged from a year earlier.
- PFCU Credit Union of Portland, Mich. ($800.8 million in assets, 55,863 members) opened a new branch this month in Caledonia, Mich., about 20 miles southeast of Grand Rapids and 40 miles west of Portland. It replaces its old branch 1.5 miles to the south. PFCU had 13 branches on Sept. 30, unchanged from a year earlier.
- Redwood Credit Union has opened a new branch in San Anselmo, 40 miles south of Santa Rosa and 20 miles north of San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge. San Anselmo is Redwood’s fourth branch in Marin County. The first opened in 1993 in San Rafael, followed by branches in Novato and Mill Valley.
NCUA data showed RCU had 23 branches and other locations on Sept. 30, one more than a year earlier.
