The 119th Congress has been sworn in and the hard work of getting credit union priorities to be seen and heard by lawmakers has begun; and this is where the Chief Advocacy Officer for the Defense Credit Union Council (DCUC), Jason Stverak comes in.
Stverak joins us on this episode of “Shared Accounts With CU Times” to explain DCUC’s legislative priorities and goals for the new Congress and the incoming Trump Administration. Stverak said there are two big issues facing credit unions this year: keeping in place the credit union tax-exempt status and revamping the CFPB.
Stverak shared his history working up on the Hill in previous positions and said he prefers working for and fighting for credit unions. He also opened up about his family-run candy store in his home state of North Dakota. Yeah, his family runs a candy store and we are very excited to know this!
Listen up and learn more about what credit unions are facing in Washington, D.C. this year and stay tuned for our candy chat with Stverak later in the episode. Here’s a link to his family’s store.
Thanks for listening!
