To better reflect its recent charter expansion, as well as its mission and core values, the $65.3 million, Greenwood, S.C.-based Greenwood Municipal Federal Credit Union will change its name to TRU FCU on Jan. 2, 2025, the credit union said Monday.
Originally chartered in 1974 as a Sponsor Employee Group credit union serving local municipalities, school districts and certain employers, GMFCU widened its charter in 2022 to include the South Carolina counties of Greenwood, Abbeville, Laurens, Newberry, Saluda and McCormick. It now serves 7,257 members.
