Ready to take a break from everything that scares you about your job – be it new regulations, cybercrime or HR nightmares – and feel genuinely scared? You've come to the right place! This very special Halloween episode of the CU Times podcast, which has been aptly named Scared Accounts With CU Times, is chock-full of spooky surprises.
Listen as co-hosts Michael Ogden, Natasha Chilingerian and Producer Zach Neiheisel lead you on a terrifying journey, starting with their favorite childhood memories of Halloween while growing up in the South, Pacific Northwest and Midwest, respectively. Then, they'll introduce you to our special guests, who happen to be two of the credit union industry's biggest Halloween enthusiasts.
The first is Jim Stickley, CEO of Mahalo Banking in the San Diego, Calif., area, who enjoys scaring the pants off local elementary school kids at the haunted house he builds from the ground up each year (for your viewing pleasure, two photos of Stickley's creations are included below).
The second is Jodi Rathbun-Briggs, SVP at Greylock Federal Credit Union in Pittsfield, Mass., who along with her husband has been terrorizing her community (in a good way) with her annual Trail of Terror in the small New England town of Lee, Mass., while raising money for charity. We invite all of our listeners to check out her Facebook page dedicated to the haunt here (warning: the images are truly terrifying!).
Next, you might want to dim the lights for a dramatic reading of a real-life supernatural experience that occurred in the credit union world. The story, submitted by Scott Butterfield, a credit union consultant and head of Your Credit Union Partner, details a haunting that took place during a strategic planning meeting at the McMenamins Edgefield resort in Troutdale, Ore.
You'll also join Michael, Natasha and Producer Zach as they discuss their own creepy experiences and the horror movies that shook them the most, and, for the grand finale, taste-test some of their most despised Halloween candies from their trick-or-treating days. Grab a bowl of pumpkin-shaped Reese's – or candy corn, if that's your thing (and if so, gross) – this episode is a treat that can't be missed!
