CU Employee Recovering From Injuries in Alleged Attempted Homicide Incident
Cascade County attorney says the credit union employee, T.M., was interviewed by police.
An employee of the $332 million Montana Federal Credit Union in Great Falls is recovering and appears to be doing well after he was critically injured last week when a man ran over him with his pickup truck.
“The victim is recovering and seems to be doing well,” Joshua A. Racki, Cascade County Attorney in Great Falls said Tuesday. “He has given an interview to police.”
The victim, identified as T.M. in court documents, underwent surgery last Thursday and was then listed in critical condition at Benefis Hospital.
County prosecutors charged 46-year-old Jeremiah Drew Gideon with attempted deliberate homicide and assault on a peace officer, court documents showed.
On Oct. 9, Gideon with his pickup truck allegedly ran over T.M. after the credit union employee asked Gideon to leave when he approached a member in his car in the ATM drive-up lane, claiming the government was tracking money and that he should not withdraw funds.
T.M. was standing in the space between Gideon’s vehicle and the member’s car in the credit union’s ATM drive up lane when Gideon slowly backed his pickup truck in what appeared to be an attempt to square up his vehicle to the credit union employee. Gideon then allegedly accelerated toward T.M., who got away by moving in front of the other vehicle before it was struck by Gideon’s pickup truck.
Gideon continued to pursue T.M. as he moved toward 8th Ave S and across the boulevard, where Gideon allegedly ran over the credit union employee, struck a parked car and fled the scene, according to court documents.
When Gideon was apprehended by Great Falls police, he admitted that he had run over someone and that he had “killed a dude.”
A credit union employee identified Gideon as he had made a transaction at the branch just before the incident.
During a court hearing last week, Gideon was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and assessment. He remains in custody at the Cascade County Detention Center on a $500,000 bond. Documents showed Gideon also has been charged with a probation violation and a revocation of a prior suspended or deferred sentence.
