UW Credit Union Opens Branch in Madison, Wis.
The new branch on the bottom floor of an apartment complex is the 21st in its Dane County home.
The UW Credit Union announced Thursday it will open a new branch in Madison Oct. 14.
The branch on Cottage Grove Road is the 35th branch in total and 17th branch in Dane County for UW Credit Union ($5.6 billion in assets, 356,703 members).
UW Credit Union’s news release said its Dane County membership grew by 20% in the past five years, and its total membership climbed to 360,000 members this fall. As the Madison area becomes more populated, the credit union said it considers “real estate solutions that increase member accessibility and enhance the branch experience.”
The Cottage Grove Road branch is on the first floor of the new Fitzgerald Apartment Complex in the Lake Edge neighborhood of Madison and within walking distance of restaurants, nightlife and a library.
“Located between our Monona and east side branches, this new location is a convenient intersection point for our Madison, Cottage Grove and Monona members,” Amy Kriebs, SVP for member sales and solutions, said. “It has a great walkability factor plus necessary amenities like parking and drive-up lanes.”
The new Madison branch follows September’s opening of a branch in Oconomowoc, Wis., 33 miles west of downtown Milwaukee.
In addition to its branches, NCUA data showed the credit union has five corporate offices: Its headquarters in Madison, three other corporate offices in Madison and one in Milwaukee.
