Chris Kearney, former president and chief information officer for the $1.7 billion, Tempe, Ariz.-based TruWest Credit Union, became CEO of the organization on Oct. 1.

He succeeded Alan Althouse, who retired from his role as president/CEO on Sept. 30 following 20 years of service to the credit union, including the last eight as president/CEO.

Kearney, who joined TruWest in 2012 as SVP and chief information officer, was previously promoted to president and chief information officer in October 2023 as part of the credit union’s succession plan.

“Chris has consistently demonstrated his ability to drive innovation and inspire our teams to deliver exceptional service,” Althouse stated. “After working closely with Chris over the past several years, I am confident that TruWest is in excellent hands. His vision and leadership will guide the organization toward continued growth while maintaining our core values of member and community service.”

Prior to joining TruWest, Kearney spent a decade working in technology management within the credit union industry. He holds a bachelor’s degree in technology and an Executive MBA from Arizona State University.

“I am deeply honored to take on this role as CEO and grateful for the trust placed in me by Alan and the board,” Kearney said. “Our organization’s commitment to our members, employees and community will remain at the forefront of everything we do as we continue to evolve and innovate in this fast-changing financial landscape.”

TruWest serves over 90,000 members and operates eight branches in Arizona as well as three branches in Austin, Texas.
