Twenty-nine days before the Nov. 5 elections, America’s Credit Unions and its Political Action Committee (PAC) pledged nearly $4 million to selected candidates who are also “credit union champions” to help in their election efforts.

According to a statement from America’s Credit Unions on Monday, the $3.6 million will focus on “independent expenditures and member communications” for the following candidates:

“America’s Credit Unions is bipartisan in our political support,” America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle said. “We are focused on helping candidates who understand and support credit unions, and work with us to help our members and their communities succeed. As an advocacy organization, the best way to achieve our mission is for America’s Credit Unions to actively support candidates in a way that fosters a safe and affordable financial services option for all Americans through their local credit union.”

America’s Credit Unions have at least two ads supporting Sen. Tester and Rep. Fitzpatrick. And to help create the messaging, according to Monday’s statement, “America’s Credit Unions worked hand-in-glove with league partners to help target messaging to credit union members.”

According to OpenSecrets.org, a non-partisan site that keeps track of campaign contributions, America’s Credit Unions is currently in the top 10 of PACs donating to candidates in this election cycle.
