Edward Arthur Nurse has been indicted for allegedly embezzling $340,000 while he worked as a team leader at a Montana credit union branch, the U.S. Attorney’s office said in Missoula.

A jury trial has been tentatively scheduled for November after Nurse pleaded not guilty to one felony count of theft from a credit union in August.

According to prosecutors, starting in July 2023 Nurse began swapping real money in a branch vault with fake funds at the $386 million Park Side Financial Credit Union based in Whitefish. His theft allegedly continued through June 2024, according to the indictment.

Over those 11 months, the former credit union employee allegedly stole $340,000. The indictment did not say how Nurse concealed his alleged crime.

Park Side Financial President/CEO Jeremy Presta said the credit union detected the theft and reported it to police.

He declined to make additional comments because the criminal case is pending in U.S. District Court in Missoula.

Nurse’s defense attorney did not respond to a CU Times request for comment.
