Ryan Ross will become the next president/CEO of the $1.5 billion University of Kentucky Federal Credit Union (UKFCU) in Lexington on Oct. 14, the board of directors said.

He will replace Dan Kittleson, UKFCU’s CFO, who was named interim CEO in November 2023.

“During our extensive and thorough nationwide search, the board of directors understood what type of leader was needed to help deliver exceptional service to our members and growth opportunities for the organization and employees,” UKFCU Board President Tyler Gayheart said in a prepared statement. “When speaking to Ryan, the board could very quickly recognize his deep history and understanding of credit unions and member-centric ideologies that maintain our unique position and appeal to central Kentuckians. We were also impressed by his vision and commitment to innovation and providing value to our members. The board is excited to see Ryan lead UKFCU for many years to come.”

Ross joins UKFCU from the $645 million Soarion Federal Credit Union in San Antonio, where he served as its president/CEO for more than four years. He also worked at Pen Air Credit Union in Pensacola, Fla., for more than six years as an EVP, according to his LinkedIn page.

UKFCU’s 260 employees operate seven locations and serve more than 107,000 members.

UKFCU is the fourth largest financial cooperative by assets in the Bluegrass State, according to DepositAccounts.com.
