On Friday, officials at the Wisconsin Credit Union League in Madison, Wis., announced Sarah Wainscott will be its next president/CEO once current President/CEO Brett Thompson retires at the end of the year.

The Board of Directors at The League made the announcement five months after Thompson said he would step down after 23 years of service.

"The Board is immensely grateful for Brett's decades of servant leadership, which has made The Wisconsin Credit Union League one of the strongest Leagues in the nation," Christine Moczynski, president/CEO of Prime Financial Credit Union and Board Chair of the League, said. "Brett's steadfast leadership has built a solid foundation of advocacy, collaboration and unity for Wisconsin's credit unions and our members.  We are delighted Sarah Wainscott has accepted the role to continue building on this foundation and to carry The Wisconsin Credit Union League into the future. We wish Brett the best in a well-deserved retirement."

Wainscott has served at The League in several leadership positions since 2010 when she joined as a Government Affairs Assistant and was promoted numerous times over the years to positions such as director of government affairs, vice president of government affairs and most recently SVP of advocacy.

The League's Search Committee chair and president/CEO of Royal Credit Union, Brandon Riechers, added, "Sarah Wainscott's extensive experience and dedication to Wisconsin's credit unions made her the standout choice in our national search. She brings an unparalleled passion for the credit union movement and a visionary approach that will undoubtedly take the League to even greater heights. Sarah's proven track record in leading strategic initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation make her the perfect choice to guide us through this exciting new chapter. We are confident that Sarah's leadership will inspire us all to rise to the occasion and embrace the opportunities ahead."

In a prepared statement, Wainscott said, "I have had the privilege of seeing, firsthand, the passion and sincerity credit unions bring toward achieving financial wel-being for all throughout my career at the League. Having the opportunity to further champion Wisconsin credit unions and work to amplify their impact is the honor of a lifetime. I am eager to work closely with our Board and members in this new capacity and am endlessly grateful for Brett's mentorship and the legacy he leaves behind."

According to Friday's announcement, the League was assisted in its leadership search by Humanidei.
