After a nationwide search, officials with the $3 billion Utah Community Credit Union (UCCU) announced on Monday that Justin Olson was selected as the credit union’s president/CEO. Olson will begin his leadership duties this week.

Olson, who has been with UCCU for more than two decades, takes over from Bret VanAusdal, who retires this week after 28 years of service with the credit union, including the past six years as president/CEO.

In a prepared statement, Olson said, “I’m thrilled to lead UCCU into the future as we set the stage for continued growth and expansion. Through executing the credit union’s strategic plan, I believe UCCU can help even more members reach their financial goals while making a meaningful impact on the lives of the people and communities we serve.”

According to Monday’s announcement, the search for a new UCCU leader was facilitated by executive search and placement firm DDJ Myers.

UCCU Board Chair Linda Makin praised the selection of Olson. “Justin’s background, education, experience, and skills have uniquely prepared him to lead UCCU into the future,” Makin said. “Beyond his innovative mindset, strategic foresight, and ability to leverage technology to enhance operational efficiency and member satisfaction, he has developed a reputation for integrity, dedication and excellence that extends beyond our credit union’s walls, earning him admiration and trust from various stakeholders.”

UCCU is headquartered in Provo, Utah and has nearly 250,000 members, according to NCUA Call Report data.
