Carolinas League Subsidiary & Credit Union House Appoint Board Members

Plus, Virginia’s Chartway CU announces a new hire and two board appointments.

The $2.9 billion, Virginia Beach, Va.-based Chartway Credit Union announced a new hire and two board appointments.

Ross Dundlow

Ross Dundlow was hired as vice president of default management and fraud. In his new role, Dundlow is responsible for overseeing the credit union’s default management and fraud prevention efforts, developing strategies to mitigate risk and ensuring the organization’s financial integrity. Dundlow brings nearly 30 years of experience in financial services, higher education and telecom. Previously, he held roles at PRA Group, where he established the company’s first workforce planning department and led operations support via analytics, strategy, technology and production. His earlier career included key positions at Regent University, where he oversaw operations support functions for customer service, sales and financial aid. He also led capacity planning and logistics at Verizon for the Mid-Atlantic region and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Paul Annunziata was appointed to Chartway’s Board of Directors. Annunziata retired from Chartway in early 2021 after serving for more than four decades in various roles, including COO, CFO and corporate development executive. He currently serves on the Chartway Promise Foundation Board of Directors and previously served on the board of Chartway Financial Services, the credit union’s former CUSO.

Jim Bibbs was appointed to Chartway’s Board of Directors. Bibbs, chief human resources officer at LifeNet Health, rejoins Chartway’s Board after a short time away due to competing priorities. In 2020, he joined the Board through its associate director development program and was appointed director later that year. After stepping down in 2022, he served on a Board committee. Now returning, Bibbs brings more than 25 years of leadership experience developing and leading HR infrastructures within multi-site, global and Fortune 500 companies, including the Port of Virginia, Quintiles and Citi. He holds a master’s degree in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash.

LEAGUES

The Carolinas Credit Union League appointed seven individuals to serve on the Board of Directors of PLR, its for-profit subsidiary. According to CCUL, the announcement marks a strategic shift for CCUL and PLR, as it changes its governance structure to separate the League and PLR Boards more clearly. The PLR Board retains key CCUL leadership positions – including the chair, vice chair and CEO – each of whom have a seat on the board. It also consists of two additional individuals working in a credit union in North Carolina or South Carolina and two at-large positions.

LaTasha Cooper, CCUL Board chair, was appointed to the PLR Board. She is vice president of lending at SPC Credit Union ($248 million, Hartsville, S.C.), began her career as an auditor with the SC Credit Union League (now Carolinas Credit Union League) and served in various strategic roles before becoming CEO of Edisto Federal Credit Union ($23 million, Orangeburg, S.C.). Cooper is a Certified Credit Union Development Educator and Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor.

Bob Donley, CCUL Board vice chair, was appointed to the PLR Board. Donley has led Members Credit Union ($444 million, Winston Salem, N.C.) as president/CEO since 2016, after serving as EVP since 1995. He has worked in community banks and savings & loans, and served on various industry boards from the League to the N.C. Credit Union Commission.

Dan Schline, CCUL president/CEO, was appointed to the PLR Board. Schline, president/CEO of the League since 2018, also serves on the Boards of Advanced Fraud Solutions, the American Association of Credit Union Leagues and the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation. He began his career with the League in 1997 and has held various leadership roles.

Eric Gelly was appointed to the PLR Board. Gelly has been president/CEO of Skyla Credit Union ($1.5 billion, Charlotte, N.C.) since 2022. His prior roles include president of CUNA Strategic Services and EVP/COO of the Carolinas Credit Union League. He has served as board chairman of Advanced Fraud Solutions and executive director of Carolina Credit Union Services.

Thomas Heyden was named an at-large PLR Board member. Heyden is chief revenue officer for the auto lending platform provider Driven for Credit Unions. He spent over two decades at CUNA Mutual Group (now TruStage) in various sales roles and previously worked for Members Credit Union. He is also a retired U.S. Army Reserve officer with 30 years of service.

Nikki Pounds was named an at-large PLR board member. The CEO of HR Unequivocally, Pounds is an HR executive with over 25 years of experience, as well as a speaker, author and certified John Maxwell Team coach. She holds various certifications in emotional intelligence, leadership development, and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Keith Wilson was appointed to the PLR Board. Beginning his career as a loan officer at Founders Federal Credit Union ($4.7 billion, Lancaster, S.C.), Wilson advanced to the role of EVP at the credit union in 2022. He serves on several boards including the Anne Springs Close Greenway Board and the Pathways Board of Directors.

Credit Union House, which is the epicenter of national credit union advocacy and owned by every state and regional credit union association/league and the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, announced two board appointments.

Samantha Beeler, president of the League of Southeastern Credit Unions, was appointed to the Credit Union House Board and will serve as a director.

Caroline Willard, president/CEO of the Cornerstone League, was appointed to the Credit Union House Board and will serve as secretary. Both of their terms will expire at the next Credit Union House annual meeting in March 2025.
