16 Credit Union Professionals Receive New Roles & Recognitions

LAFCU hires a former consultant full time and two marketing leaders are honored by local publications, among other news.

Tucson Federal Credit Union ($725 million, Tucson, Ariz.) announced two promotions.

Chris Fonseca was promoted to CFO. Fonseca is a Certified Management Accountant and Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis. He recently passed Part 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst exam.

John Moyer was promoted to vice president of culture and development. Moyer has been a TFCU employee for the past 20 years and has over 13 years of experience in human resources, learning and development, and operations management. He holds a Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional designation, is a Western CUNA Management School graduate, and is a Certified Social and Emotional Intelligence Coach. He was also an honoree for Tucson Hispanic Chamber’s 40 under 40 in 2021.

John Moyer

Heather Diamond, SVP of business development and community relations for San Diego County Credit Union ($13.2 billion, San Diego, Calif.), was named among SD Metro Magazine’s Top 40 Under 40. The award recognizes outstanding young leaders who are positively impacting their organization and the San Diego community. Diamond was selected for her leadership and passionate commitment to positively impacting the San Diego community through financial education, business development and community relations. Diamond joined SDCCU as business development and community relations manager in 2018, bringing nearly a decade of experience in marketing, business development and communications. She was promoted to vice president, business development and community relations in 2021, and in 2022, elevated to SVP. Diamond earned her master’s degree in management from San Diego State University.

The $912 million, Leominster, Mass.-based Leominster Credit Union announced five board appointments for 2024-2025 during its April meeting.

Michael J. Sauvageau was appointed chairman of the Board. Sauvageau has been on the Board since 2007 and serves on LCU’s Executive Committee.

Joyce G. Leger was appointed assistant chair. Leger serves on LCU’s Executive, Credit, Compensation and Associate Director Steering Committees. She has served on the Board since 2007.

Robert J. DelleChiaie was appointed treasurer. DelleChiaie serves on LCU’s Executive, Audit, and Associate Director Steering Committees. He has served on the Board since 2019.

Guilio G. Greco was appointed assistant treasurer. Greco serves on LCU’s Executive, Investment, Audit and Compensation Committees. He has served on the Board since 1978.

Joseph V. Quintal was appointed clerk. Quintal serves on LCU’s Executive, Audit, Compensation and Associate Director Steering Committee. He has served on the Board since 2006.

Victor Hall

The $923 million, Chesapeake, Va.-based ABNB Federal Credit Union hired Victor Hall as SVP and chief experience officer. In his new role, Hall will oversee the branch services, digital member services, marketing and training departments at the credit union. He brings more than 25 years of financial industry experience in retail delivery, including branch and contact center management, digital transformation strategy, payments, vendor management and contract negotiation. He previously held the position of chief retail officer at State Department Federal Credit Union ($2.7 billion, Alexandria, Va.). Before that, Hall was vice president of payment product operations with Citizens Financial Group. He has an MBA from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, R.I., and completed an Organizational Leadership program at Harvard Business School.

Alisha Johnson

Alisha Johnson, chief growth officer for the $1 billion, Woodbury, Minn.-based Ideal Credit Union, was named a Notable Chief Marketing Officer in the June/July issue of Twin Cities Business Magazine along with other top business leaders. In her current role, Johnson leads marketing, business intelligence, the contact center, branches and Ideal’s wealth advisors. This includes the recently launched Ideal Digital Assistant (IDA), an AI-powered member services assistant.

The Board of Directors for the $321 million, Middletown, Ohio-based MyUSA Credit Union elected Kyle McGlone as board chair. McGlone has served as a board member since 2018 and has over 20 years of outside sales experience. Currently, he serves as a patient advocate for Defy Therapeutics, LLC, coaches the varsity baseball team at Madison High School in Middletown, and volunteers as an announcer for football and basketball games at Madison Jr/Sr High School.

Kyle McGlone

The $2.8 billion, Muskego, Wis.-based Corporate Central Credit Union hired Prabhakar Konduru as senior cloud solutions engineer. In his new role, Konduru will oversee the intricate engineering of the robust cloud infrastructure that supports the credit union’s platform, Beastro, ensuring it continues to meet the rapidly evolving needs of credit union members. He will closely collaborate with both the IT and development teams. Konduru moved to the U.S. in 2007 to pursue a master’s degree in computer science at Texas A&M Commerce. He brings 16 years of experience, having progressed from serving as a system administrator to roles including senior system administrator, DevOps lead and lead cloud infrastructure engineer. He has worked in industries including finance, travel and bioscience.

Prabhakar Konduru

LAFCU ($1 billion, Lansing, Mich.) hired Stephen Schmitt into the newly-created role of corporate strategist. As a consultant, Schmitt previously advised LAFCU’s board of directors and executive leadership team on strategic planning and how to systematically optimize their operations and IT systems. In his new role, Schmitt works closely with the executive leadership team to define, develop, prioritize and implement growth strategies that enhance member value and ensure its long-term sustainability. He also conducts market research and analysis to determine trends, risks and growth opportunities, and will regularly monitor and evaluate LAFCU’s products, services and internal processes to identify areas of opportunity and improvement.

Steve Schmitt

Schmitt founded Change Frog, a leadership, career and small business coaching and consulting company in 2009. He has nearly four decades of experience in project management, strategy, research and executive coaching, as well as years of experience in the credit union industry. He has co-authored numerous publications for CUES on quality management, executive compensation, business planning and staff management. He also earned an International Coaching Federation Professional Certified Coach accreditation and holds an MBA from the Eastern Michigan University College of Business.

The MD|DC Credit Union Association announced three award winners.

Brett Noll

Brett Noll, president/CEO of FedChoice Federal Credit Union ($437 million, Lanham, Md.), received the 2024 Professional of the Year Award. He took the helm at FedChoice in 2021 and serves in a variety of volunteer roles within the credit union industry. He is chair of the FedChoice Charitable Foundation, a board member of the Credit Union Foundation MD|DC and a long-standing member of the African-American Credit Union Coalition. He previously served on the board of the Eastern Regional Chapter of AACUC. Noll has won dozens of awards, including Marketing Professional of the Year by both CUNA (now America’s Credit Unions) and CUES. He previously served as CEO at Securityplus Federal Credit Union ($564 million, Baltimore, Md.) and SVP, chief marketing officer at Langley Federal Credit Union ($5.3 billion, Newport News, Va.) Noll has more than 30 years of financial services experience.

Kenneth McKinney

Kenneth McKinney, board chair for Andrews Federal Credit Union ($2.6 billion, Suitland, Md.), received the 2024 Volunteer of the Year award. McKinney is a retired United States Air Force Colonel who, over the past 21 years, has held several volunteer leadership roles for the credit union, including chairman of the Human Resource Committee, chairman of the Supervisory Committee and Executive Committee member. Since 2018, he has actively participated in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Troop Advancement chair and on Scout Advancement Boards. Additionally, for more than three decades, he has been a member of the Air Force Cadet Officer Mentor Association.

Michael Ches

Michael Ches, branch manager at Baltimore County Employees Federal Credit Union ($501 million, Towson, Md.), received the Miriam Lieb Emerging Leader Award. Ches will receive a professional development package sponsored by TruStage.
