Professionals Jump Into New Roles at 3 CUs, ALM First
Plus, one CEO and one board director are honored by local leagues and organizations.
WEST
The $725 million, Tucson, Ariz.-based Tucson Federal Credit Union announced three board appointments.
Mike Herrier was named board chair. Herrier has been on the TFCU board for four years, serving in various roles including board member, treasurer and vice chair. He has been a member of the Asset Liability Management and Enterprise Risk Management Committees for four consecutive years, helped create and implement the Associate Board Program and served on various other committees. Herrier brings over 23 years of credit union experience at the former Steinbeck Credit Union (Salinas, Calif.) and Golden 1 Credit Union ($20.4 billion, Sacramento), and 12 years as an accountant in the Navy. He sits on two other boards, chairing one, and has served as the volunteer coordinator for the Tucson Police since 2016.
Deborah Alter was named vice chair. Alter brings a background as a CPA and as a member of TFCU’s Supervisory Committee.
Cori Rodriguez was named a director. According to her LinkedIn page, Rodriguez has served as associate marketing program manager for Rain Bird Corporation based in Azusa, Calif., since 2021.
EAST
Joseph Tedesco, president/CEO for the $357 million, Oceanside, N.Y.-based Ocean Financial Federal Credit Union, was honored at the Hispanic Brotherhood Scholarship Dinner in Rockville Centre, N.Y., on May 9. The Scholarship Dinner is an annual fundraising event in which all proceeds raised will provide financial assistance for deserving college students in the Rockville Centre School District. Throughout the event, fellow honorees were acknowledged for their continued leadership in their respective communities and providing outstanding services to the Hispanic community of Long Island.
Jeannine DeRosby, board director for New Dimensions Federal Credit Union ($213 million, Waterville, Maine), received the Alexander Ferguson Award for Outstanding Volunteer from the Maine Credit Union League during its annual convention’s awards ceremony. DeRosby was elected to serve on the Supervisory Committee of the credit union in 1998.
She held the office of co-chair of the Committee and trained new Committee members on how to perform necessary monthly audits. She served on this committee until 2002, when she transitioned to a role on the Board of Directors upon election. Over the years, DeRosby held every officer position on the Board at one time or another; currently, she is the secretary. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors of Seton Village/Saint Francis Apartments as chairperson, is a lector for Corpus Christi Parish, and serves on both the Finance Committee and Pastoral Council. She also still works as a bookkeeper for many of the area parishes in the Diocese.
PAHO/WHO Federal Credit Union ($327 million, Arlington, Va.) announced one promotion and two organizational changes.
Esteban Arze was promoted to vice president of member services. In his new role, Arze will be overseeing all retail services, card and deposit operations, mortgage and consumer lending, and the credit union’s financial advisory and planning services under the brand name of Bienestar Financial Partners. Arze joined the PAHO/WHO team in 2014 as the lending manager.
Gisella de Lanzone joined the business development team as a senior business development specialist. She has been with PAHO/WHO for 26 years.
Jairol Arias joined the consumer lending team as consumer loan officer. He has been with the credit union for 11 years.
SOUTH
The $652 million, San Antonio, Texas-based Soarion Credit Union announced two promotions and one new hire.
Yvonne De La Rosa-Flores was promoted to vice president of enterprise risk management. De La Rosa-Flores joined Soarion in 2022 as director of compliance and risk management and was soon thereafter promoted to assistant vice president. In her new role, she will analyze and measure the exposure of risk to the credit union by monitoring products or services the credit union and the geographic locations in which it services to ensure it has proper internal controls in place to mitigate risk. De La Rosa-Flores has worked in the credit union industry for 32 years.
Monica Benavides was promoted to assistant vice president of loan servicing and credit solutions. In her new role, Benavides, who joined Soarion in May 2023, is tasked with driving the strategic direction of the Credit Solutions, Payment Operations, and Card and Loan Servicing business units of the organization. She has 37 years of financial industry experience overseeing asset recovery and disposal, collections, bankruptcy, titles and more. Prior to her promotion, Benavides was director of credit solutions for Soarion.
Justin Eddleton was hired as assistant vice president of HomeX Lending in May 2024. Eddleton joined from Credit Human ($4.2 billion, San Antonio), where he served as director of sales and marketing. In his new role, he will manage the credit union’s new department focused on sustainable home lending. He brings more than 16 years of financial industry experience and will oversee strategic planning and development, loan portfolio management, product development and more.
VENDORS
The Dallas, Texas-based financial advisory services provider ALM First hired Meaghan Mittnacht as director, client service. Mittnacht brings more than 14 years of experience as an investment professional. She spent all of those years at Goldman Sachs, where, prior to her most recent role there, she was a member of its Fixed Income Asset Management team, working directly on the trading desk for large institutional mandates. She received both her Series 7 and Series 63 licenses through FINRA.
