Shared Accounts With CU Times: Landmark CU Stands Up to Senior Fraud

Chief Experience Officer Brian Melter discusses how his CU is building financially healthy lives for its members.

After kicking off his career in the investment industry, Brian Melter began expanding his financial services skill set into the areas of digital, marketing and operations. He eventually landed in his current role of chief experience officer at Landmark Credit Union, a $6.5 billion institution based in Brookfield, Wis., just outside of Milwaukee.

On this episode of “Shared Accounts With CU Times,” Melter shares what member experience means to him and why it’s more important now than ever. We also recognize two recent and upcoming holidays in the world of financial services – National Senior Fraud Awareness Day (May 15) and National Financial Literacy Month (April) – by asking Melter how Landmark CU is tackling these important topics. He breaks down the “Four Ps” of senior fraud, discusses the role technology plays in fraud schemes and describes how his credit union is ensuring its oldest members don’t become victims of fraud.

Melter also details why building trust with members is critical to a successful financial wellness journey, and presents his top three money management tips for young consumers. (Note: The advice he shares with us is the same advice he offers to his 15-year-old daughter, so we know it’s top-notch.)

And, be sure to listen all the way to the end to find out how well Melter, a Wisconsin native, knows his home state – we close out this episode with a rapid-fire round of Wisconsin-theme trivia!
