On Wednesday, the boards of directors with the Honolulu-based Hawaii Credit Union League (HCUL) and HCU Services Corporation announced it had selected Tim Ashcraft as the next president/CEO.

Ashcraft’s appointment came after former league president/CEO Carol Marx abruptly resigned in September 2023 having only served for 16 months. Since that time, Karl Yoneshige served as HCUL’s volunteer interim president, along with HCUL Engagement Manager Tracy Aiwohi and Business Services Manager Grant Kashiwabara, who took over the management of HCUL’s day-to-day operations.

Ashcraft’s tenure with HCUL and HCU will begin on May 13.

According to HCUL, Ashcraft has spent the past 27 years working at Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union and HSF Federal Credit Union on the Big Island of Hawaii.

Ashcraft has been connected to HCUL for years as he has served on the HCUL and HCUS Boards of Directors, and as the HCUL Big Island Chapter President. He has been instrumental in developing the HCUL Big Island Chapter Young Professionals Committee.

In a prepared statement, HCUL Board Chairman Norman Okimoto said, “Tim knows the challenges credit union members face as he has been in the front line working one-on-one with them to help meet their financial needs. His vast credit union industry experience will help the HCUL best serve its member credit unions and ultimately the residents of Hawaii.”

HCUL represents credit unions in Hawaii and Guam.
