California’s UCU Secures First NIL Deal With Basketball Player Chloe Webb

A new name, image, and likeness (NIL) deal announced Monday represented the first NIL deal for the $1.1 billion University Credit Union in Los Angeles – as well as the first in the history of the Western Athletic Conference.

UCU is now partnered with Chloe Webb, a senior and basketball player at California Baptist University in Riverside who recently received the Most Outstanding Player award during the WAC women’s basketball tournament as she led her team, the CBU Lancers, to victory and into the NCAA March Madness tournament, the credit union said.

As part of Webb’s partnership with UCU, she became a member of the credit union and will be promoting the financial well-being of all UCU members in the university community.

“I am so excited to be one of the first student athletes to have this amazing opportunity to partner with an organization like University Credit Union,” Webb said. “I think UCU is a great NIL partner because not only do we share the same values, but I get to represent everything they provide to support students, faculty and university staff. I’m looking forward to this opportunity to help promote financial well-being within my community.”

The NIL deal also represented an expansion of UCU’s existing partnership with the WAC, an NCAA Division I conference with college athletics program participants located in Arizona, California, Texas, Utah and Washington State. UCU currently serves as the WAC’s official financial services partner and is the title sponsor of the annual WAC softball and baseball conference tournaments, which take place in May.
