What's more, he contributed his time to the AACUC for more than 20 years, most recently serving as secretary of the Texas Regional Chapter since 2021, where "he worked towards empowering others and fostering inclusivity within the credit union movement," according to the AACUC.

"Tony's kindness, leadership and infectious smile will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him," the AACUC's statement read. "In this time of sorrow, we will cherish the memories we shared with Tony and honor his remarkable life by continuing his legacy of kindness, compassion and service."

The Cornerstone League, which represents credit unions in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas, added that Black was an active member of the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions, as well as served on the Cornerstone Resources Board of Directors from 2013-2019 and its Audit Committee from 2015-2019. He was a frequent contributor to the CEO Roundtables and Houston chapter meetings, the League said.

"We at Cornerstone extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and coworkers. May his memory live on through the many lives he touched and inspired," according to the League's statement.
