2024 Rings in America’s Credit Unions
The newly-merged organization officially launches Jan. 1 with updates expected from Jim Nussle.
Two months after members of NAFCU and CUNA approved the merger of the two organizations, America’s Credit Unions officially becomes a reality on Jan. 1.
On XXX, NAFCU Board of Directors Chair Gary Grinnell and CUNA Board of Directors Chair Lisa Ginter signed the legal documents to certify the merger.
In a statement published Friday, member credit unions can expect a message from America’s Credit Unions President/CEO Jim Nussle Jan. 2 “detailing how to access transformation updates, needed resources, and contact information.”
The statement also indicated the new America’s Credit Unions daily newsletter will start publishing on Jan. 3. Officials encouraged members to subscribe in order to stay informed of developments and information concerning the new organization.
While many details concerning staffing and office locations have yet to be announced, officials with America’s Credit Unions expect the organization to use 2024 as a transition year and will be fully functional by 2025.
On Dec. 21, Nussle announced America’s Credit Unions new leadership team of six individuals. They include:
- Jill Tomalin will serve as EVP for America’s Credit Unions. Tomalin has more than 30 years of experience within the credit union industry and currently serves as EVP and COO for CUNA. In her new role, she will oversee membership and engagement, communications and marketing, operations and finance, and association services.
- Carrie Hunt will serve as chief advocacy officer. Hunt has 20 years of experience in consumer finance and financial services law, credit union regulations and association lobbying. She currently serves as president/CEO of the Virginia Credit Union League. The Virginia League said Hunt will leave her current position to serve at America’s Credit Unions beginning March 1, 2024.
- Anthony Demangone will serve as chief membership and engagement officer. Demangone has served the credit union industry for more than two decades and brings significant compliance and legal expertise. He currently serves as EVP and COO at NAFCU.
- Eddie Rivera will serve as COO and CFO. Rivera has served the credit union industry for nearly 30 years and brings a deep understanding of business operations, including the importance of collaborative relationships with external partners and internal departments. Rivera currently serves as CFO at CUNA.
- Meghan Burris Small will serve as chief communications and marketing officer. Small has more than a decade of experience in financial services and regulatory policy communications. She currently serves as vice president of communications and media relations at NAFCU.
- Todd Spiczenski will serve as chief association services officer. Spiczenski has more than 30 years of experience in credit union member services. He currently serves as EVP and chief products and services officer at CUNA.
