4 Credit Unions & MDT Announce New Hires, Promotions
Plus, retired Coastal FCU CEO Chuck Purvis is named interim CEO and board member for Ecority.
WEST
The $639 million, San Jose, Calif.-based CommonWealth Central Credit Union hired Kimberly Oblak as chief experience officer. Oblak brings more than 20 years of financial services experience, with over 15 of those years focused on strategic areas including business development, team transformation and member success. She most recently served as chief retail officer for the $539 million LA Financial Credit Union in Pasadena, Calif. In her new role, Oblak will serve as a strong steward of CommonWealth’s brand and take responsibility for the member experience across all channels. She will also serve as a key member of the executive team, providing expertise, creativity and meaningful insights to help drive strategic business decisions and results. Oblak completed a master of science administration in business management at Walsh College in Troy, Mich., and is a Certified Chief Executive.
EAST
The board of directors for the $1.5 billion, Pittsfield, Mass.-based Greylock Federal Credit Union appointed Ann Deely as director emeritus. In this role, she will function as part of an advisory committee to the board of directors for a two-year term. Deely joined the board in 2010 and was elected board chair in 2018 before resigning later that year due to personal circumstances. She founded the law firm Deely & Deely in Lee, Mass., and was formerly affiliated with the Lee Youth Association, Lee Planning Board, Berkshire United Way and Lee High School Building Committee. Deely was also a former legal advisor for Community Television of Southern Berkshire County and the Lee VNA Ethics Commission. She is a graduate of Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich., was a member of the Berkshire and Massachusetts Bar Association and is a Massachusetts Bar Foundation Life Fellow.
The $6.8 billion Hudson Valley Credit Union in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., hired Amy Jakobeit as head of banking operations. In her new role, Jakobeit will be responsible for the development, implementation and achievement of short- and long-term strategies related to HVCU’s operational lines of business including loan operations, member support services, card operations and collections. She brings more than 30 years of experience in financial services, including extensive employee leadership, strategic planning and sales initiatives. She most recently served as senior managing director, head of residential and consumer lending for Webster Bank in Stamford, Conn.
SOUTH
The $1.6 billion, North Augusta, S.C.-based SRP Federal Credit Union announced two promotions and one new hire.
Erin DeVeaux was promoted to vice president, retail. DeVeaux joined SRP in 2018 as assistant vice president, retail. In her new role, she will lead SRP’s branch network, call center and virtual experience team. DeVeaux began her financial career as a teller and has served in many positions including branch manager. She later served in a partner role as a wealth relationship manager. She holds a Series 7, 66, Variable and Life Insurance license.
Andy Starcher was promoted to vice president, operations. In his new role, Starcher will lead SRP’s operations, deposit services, IT operations teams and ITM operations. He joined SRP in 2007 as a teller and was later promoted to a number of positions, including payroll deduction specialist, ACH specialist, accounting supervisor, operations manager and most recently, assistant vice president, deposit operations. He holds an MBA from Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga., and a Credit Union Management Certificate from the Southeastern Regional Credit Union School held at the University of Georgia, and is a graduate of Leadership Columbia County. In addition, he serves as a deacon at a local church.
Cliff Jennings was hired as producing mortgage sales manager. In his new role, Jennings will be responsible for developing the SRP mortgage loan origination team as they assist member-owners, servicing all their mortgage needs. Jennings brings almost a decade of experience working in the financial industry, specifically in mortgage banking. He has worked at various mortgage companies as a loan officer, a mortgage banker and most recently, a producing branch manager. He is currently president of the Augusta, Ga., chapter for the Mortgage Bankers Association.
CUSOS
Member Driven Technologies (MDT), a Farmington Hills, Mich.-based core processing and IT CUSO, announced three promotions.
Dan Schneider was promoted into the newly-created role of chief project officer. Schneider, who has been with MDT for over 15 years, most recently served as vice president of project management and implementations. In his new role, he will accelerate the delivery of high-quality service and solutions to ensure credit unions stay competitive in today’s digital landscape.
Greg Lanigan was promoted to chief information officer. In his new role, Lanigan will be responsible for all technical infrastructure, including Microsoft, Technical, AIX and Cisco support.
Tracie Loudermilk was promoted to vice president of project and consulting solutions. In her new role, Loudermilk will oversee the newly-launched Project Management Consulting Services team and the team’s client engagements.
VENDORS
Ecority, an independent nonprofit that has built a national coalition of credit unions and state-chartered green banks, appointed Chuck Purvis interim CEO and board member. Ecority was established to specifically comply with the statutory requirements of the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Purvis retired as president/CEO of the $4.8 billion Coastal Federal Credit Union in Raleigh, N.C., earlier this year and brings more than four decades of credit union industry experience to his new role. Throughout his career, Purvis has founded multiple companies, bringing new technology to market to benefit credit unions and their members.
