NCUA Bans Former CU Member Service Associate
Ryan Nichole Horne worked at Maryland’s NASA FCU, where she allegedly made nearly $5,000 on debit card charges.
A former member service associate at the $5.3 billion NASA Federal Credit Union in Upper Marlboro, Md., has been banned from ever participating in the affairs of any insured financial institution, the NCUA said Tuesday.
Starting in July 2021, Ryan Nicole Horne used her position at the credit union to allegedly gain unauthorized access to member debit cards. She allegedly made unauthorized purchases on those cards and was fired in September 2021, according to the NCUA’s administrative order.
On April 20, 2022, Horne pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charge of credit card fraud during a Fairfax County District Court hearing.
A judge rendered a 90-day suspended sentence and 12 months of probation following Horne’s guilty plea.
The former credit union employee was also ordered to pay $4,894 in restitution to the credit union, which she paid in May, the federal agency said.
Horne did not admit or deny the allegations in the administrative order, according to the NCUA.
