Fiserv & Nike Executives Join First Tech FCU’s Board
Two other credit unions announce promotions, and Filene’s Christie Kimbell becomes an EVP.

The $28.9 billion BECU in Tukwila, Wash., promoted Shawna Thompson to EVP and head of operations. In her new role, Thompson will lead the team in bringing a dedicated focus to operational efficiency and effectiveness across BECU’s lending and credit operations, deposits and payments operations, fraud and default management as well as real estate and facilities. She joined BECU more than three decades ago and has since held product and operational leadership roles across the organization’s lending, finance, audit, product management and operations functions. Most recently, she served as vice president of servicing operations. Thompson holds several operational excellence certifications, including a Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and currently sits on the board of the Hearing, Speech and Deaf Center as well as chairs BECU’s Achieving Disability Awareness Employee Resource Group.
The $16.9 billion, San Jose, Calif.-based First Tech Federal Credit Union announced three new board appointments.
Margo Fowler, vice president and deputy general counsel at Nike, Inc., was appointed to the First Tech board. Fowler is an expert legal executive who brings extensive knowledge of managing commercial, intellectual property, marketing, product regulatory, and compliance and operations from her tenure at Nike.
Dave Keenan, SVP at Fiserv, has also joined the First Tech board. Keenan is a seasoned finance leader who brings strong commerce solutions and digital engagement experience, and has directed member loyalty initiatives at several leading companies.
Phil Roush, CFO at Crosspoint, joined First Tech’s board. Roush is an accomplished financial executive who brings finance and accounting leadership expertise from supporting numerous Fortune 100 companies.
EAST
The $879 million, Chesapeake, Va.-based ABNB Federal Credit Union announced four promotions within its digital services department.
Miranda Mitchell was promoted to digital member services assistant manager. Mitchell has 17 years of branch and member service experience. In her new role, she will be overseeing the digital member service team.
Ashleigh Wells was promoted to digital member services lead. She has seven years of branch and member service experience at ABNB, and in her new role, she will be focusing on enhancements to the credit union’s digital channels.
Cassandra Tate was promoted to digital member services lead. She has 17 years of member service experience at ABNB. In her new role, Tate will be focusing on building member relationships and mentoring the department’s new hires.
Katherine Brand was promoted to digital member services lead. She has four years of member service experience at ABNB. In her new role, Brand will be focusing on departmental training of new employees and updating all departmental polices.
VENDORS
Filene Research Institute in Madison, Wis., promoted Christie Kimbell to EVP. In her new role, Kimbell will be responsible for the strategy, products, programs, communities, financial and operational management of Filene. Kimbell joined Filene in 2019 as chief experience officer and most recently served as chief product officer. She has 18 years of experience in marketing leadership and 12 years of experience in business development. Before joining Filene, Kimbell worked as vice president, marketing and client experience at State National. Her previous roles have included managing strategic partnerships at Capital One, and chief marketing roles at OneTouchPoint and The Holley Group. Kimbell recently earned her executive MBA from Southern Methodist University, Cox School of Business in University Park, Texas.
Strategic Resource Management (SRM), a Memphis, Tenn.-based advisory firm serving banks and credit unions, appointed Swedish fintech and banking executive Eva Trouin to its International Advisory Board. Trouin brings retail banking and fintech experience to the role.
