Credit Unions in Pennsylvania & Washington Appoint New CEOs
Mike Thomas takes over the helm at Service 1st FCU and Jennifer Hurst becomes CEO of Library of Congress FCU.
The board of directors for the $645 million Service 1st Federal Credit Union in Danville, Pa., appointed Mike Thomas as its president/CEO.
He succeeds Bill Lavage, who is retiring this month after 42 years of service as CEO.
Thomas joined Service 1st in 2011 as an accounting manager. He then moved into the role of vice president of finance, until being named CFO in 2013.
“Following an extensive search and interview process, the Service 1st Federal Credit Union board of directors is confident in Mike’s ability to lead the organization,” Board Chair Steve Endress said in a prepared statement. “Mike is ardently devoted to maintaining Service 1st as an exceptional, financial institution, and to leading the organization to the next level while meeting our members’ needs.”
Service 1st’s 133 employees operate 11 branches and serve nearly 40,000 members.
Jennifer Hurst has been named president/CEO of the $299 million Library of Congress Federal Credit Union in Washington, D.C.
She replaces interim CEO Gary Mandelkorn, LCFCU’s vice president of operations.
Hurst, with 26 years of credit union experience, most recently served as vice president of projects and process management at the $4.3 billion Apple Federal Credit Union in Fairfax, Va., according to a Sept. 15 LCFCU prepared statement.
“The board is looking forward to welcoming Jennifer as the Library of Congress Federal Credit Union’s next president/CEO,” Board Chair Rosalyn Coates said. “With her demonstrated history of successful growth, operational management and member satisfaction, she is certain to provide the strategic direction, leadership and growth needed to help us continue to meet our goals.”
LCFCU’s 25 employees operate two locations and serve more than 9,600 members.
