The board of directors for Tennessee’s Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union (KTVAECU) announced it appointed Lynn Summers as its president/CEO.

She took over the helm at the state’s third largest credit union by assets last month. Glenn W. Siler retired in April, after 49 years of service at KTVAECU, including 17 years as president/CEO. Siler, 72, passed away on Aug. 7 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center in Knoxville.

During his CEO tenure, the credit union’s assets increased from $496 million in March 2006 to its current assets of $4 billion, while loans grew from $380 million to $3.5 billion and membership expanded from 86,029 to nearly 270,000, according to NCUA Call Reports.

Summers, who holds more than 33 years of professional experience in the credit union industry, launched her career at KTVAECU in 1990 as a teller. Over the years, she worked as a loan officer, branch manager, chief support officer and most recently as COO.

“The board of directors were unanimous in their decision to select Lynn Summers as our new president/CEO. Lynn embodies the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people’ and fosters a team environment that supports our culture of providing excellent member service,” KTVAECU Board Chair Tom Heffernan said in a prepared statement. “We are excited about the credit union’s future!”

Summers earned an MBA from Lincoln Memorial University and obtained several industry certifications, including a Certified Chief Executive designation from CUES and a Certified Credit Union Executive designation from CUNA.

“Lynn’s exceptional leadership skills and deep industry knowledge make her the ideal choice to lead the credit union,” KTVAECU Chief People Officer Kimberley Trimble said in a prepared statement. “We have great confidence in her ability to steer the credit union toward even greater achievements in the future.”

The credit union’s 597 employees operate 13 branches that serve members across Blount, Hamblen, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Roane, Sevier, Sullivan and Johnson City counties.

In 2024, KTVAECU will celebrate 90 years of serving East Tennessee.
