Congressional FCU Announces Death of Its CEO Cory Montez Hairston
Hairston, who served the credit union for nearly two decades, passes away unexpectedly on Aug. 16.
The Oakton, Va.-based Congressional Federal Credit Union (CFCU) announced Thursday evening that its President/CEO Cory Montez Hairston passed away unexpectedly Wednesday.
Hairston was appointed president/CEO last fall after serving at CFCU for 17 years.
A statement from the credit union said, “The entire Congressional Federal family mourns this loss. On behalf of our board of directors, management team and employees, we extend our deepest sympathies to Montez’s family. Mr. Hairston was a remarkable figure who brought dedication and passion to the organization.”
The board of directors issued the following statement: “We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Montez Hairston. Montez was a steadfast leader and a tireless advocate for transparency. The company’s directors and employees, as well as the many members whose lives he touched, mourn his loss.”
Montez began his career at CFCU ($1.2 billion in assets, 47,824 members) in 2005 where he served in positions such as vice president of internal audit for several years and took on the responsibilities as interim president/CEO of the credit union until he was appointed to the position full time in October 2022.
Montez is survived by his wife, three daughters and his granddaughter.
Details of a funeral or memorial service have yet to be made public.
CFCU serves members of the House of Representatives and those working on Capitol Hill.
