Maine Credit Union League Names Interim President/CEO
Cris Wescott succeeds Todd Mason, who is returning to his home state of Michigan later this summer.
Cris Wescott has been appointed interim president/CEO of the Maine Credit Union League and its managed services provider, Synergent, the board of directors said Friday.
She succeeds Todd Mason, who is returning to his home state of Michigan. Mason has held the position since 2017 when he joined the league from the Farmington Hills, Mich.-based fintech RouteOne.
Wescott has more than 36 years of experience with the combined organizations, and currently serves as CFO and as a member of the senior leadership team.
“Our board is in full agreement that both organizations are in a very strong position financially and with respect to its leadership,” David Desjardins, MCUL board president and president/CEO of the $316 million Acadia Federal Credit Union in Fort Kent, said in a prepared statement. “We have no doubts that Cris will build on Todd’s success and work alongside a tremendously talented leadership team to navigate a new path forward for the league and Synergent’s members and customers.”
With Mason set to depart the organization later this summer, Wescott will work with him and the management team to ensure a smooth transition.
A national executive search will commence within the next 30 to 60 days to find permanent leaders to oversee MCUL and Synergent independently. The board said it plans to make a hiring decision for each position by the end of the year or in early 2024.
“I appreciate the board’s trust in me to lead the League and Synergent into a new chapter,” Wescott said. “While I am excited about this opportunity, I will certainly miss collaborating with my friend, Todd Mason. He has strengthened both Synergent and Maine’s credit union movement by expanding our reach, nurturing our growth and carrying out our People Helping People philosophy through exemplary service. Todd is leaving us in a solid spot, and I cannot thank him enough for all that he has done throughout his six years with our organizations.”
Fifty credit unions are based in the Pine Tree State, according to the NCUA.
