Ann Brooks

The $4 billion, Albuquerque, N.M.-based Nusenda Credit Union announced three board appointments during its annual meeting on April 25.

Ann Brooks was re-elected to the board of directors for a three-year term. Brooks is a senior lecturer at Wake Forest University, School of Business, based in Winston-Salem, N.C. Previously, she was a principal lecturer at the University of New Mexico, Anderson School of Management and in addition was a part-time instructor at Central New Mexico Community College for 20 years. She has been on the board since 2007 and previously served on the Nusenda supervisory committee from 2002 to 2014. She holds a master’s degree in accounting from the University of New Mexico.

Leigh Anne Chavez

Leigh Anne Chavez was re-elected to the board of directors for a three-year term. Chavez is a recycled metals prosecutor with the State of New Mexico, Regulation & Licensing Department. She is a Certified Fraud Examiner and Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, and holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of California Los Angeles and master’s degree in accounting from the University of New Mexico. She has served on the Nusenda board since 1994 and also serves on the Nusenda Foundation board of directors.

John Landis was re-elected to the board of directors for a three-year term. Landis is retired from Stryker Orthopedics in Albuquerque, where he was a senior team member and inventory analyst. He has served on the Nusenda board since 2015 and on the supervisory committee from 2004 to 2018. He holds an MBA from the University of New Mexico.

The Minnesota Credit Union Network announced the election results for three board seats and two award winners during its ACCELERATE 23 conference.

Randy Willert, president/CEO for the $104 million, Two Harbors, Mich.-based Two Harbors Credit Union, was re-elected to the board for a three-year term and represents the 10,000 or Fewer Members Category.

Steve Ewers, president/CEO for the $1.1 billion, Duluth, Minn.-based Members Cooperative Credit Union, was newly elected to the board for a three-year term and represents the At Large Category.

Greg Worthen, president/CEO for the $396 million, Bloomington, Minn.-based My Credit Union, was newly elected to the board for a three-year term and represents the At Large Category.

Tom Heinzen, board chair of SPIRE Credit Union ($2.1 billion, Falcon Heights, Minn.), received the Outstanding Credit Union Director of the Year Award. The Director of the Year Award is given to a credit union board member who best represents the credit union spirit through dedication to, and belief in, the credit union movement.

Tom Smith, retiring president/CEO of TopLine Financial Credit Union ($737 million, Maple Grove, Minn.), received the Outstanding Credit Union Professional of the Year Award. The Professional of the Year Award is given to a remarkable person who truly stands behind the “people helping people” credit union philosophy.

Pete Major

Member Driven Technologies (MDT), a Farmington Hills, Mich.-based core processing and IT CUSO, hired Pete Major as vice president of fintech services. Major brings 25 years of experience in the banking industry. He previously spent more than 15 years with Jack Henry, most recently serving as the director of Symitar implementations. He also brings extensive systems experience in front-office, back-office, payments, IT processing, consulting, mergers, conversions and integrations.
