After an exhaustive search, the Minnesota Credit Union Network (MnCUN) has selected Mara Humphrey to be the next president/CEO of the St. Paul, Minn.-based credit union trade organization.

Humphrey, who currently holds the position of MnCUN's chief advocacy and engagement officer, will step into the leadership role at the end of April when current President/CEO Mark Cummins retires.

Cummins announced his plans to retire last July after 15 years leading the organization.

MnCUN Board Chair and CEO of the Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Employees Federal Credit Union, Mary Hansen, announced Humphrey's new role on Wednesday. "After a national search, the board is unified in the choice of Mara Humphrey as the next CEO of the Minnesota Credit Union Network."

Hansen added, "The board was deeply committed to a rigorous leadership selection process and understood this to be the most important work of our board terms. Mara is a proven champion for credit unions and a respected, innovative leader in the industry. Her vision and passion will ensure the success, growth and vitality of Minnesota credit unions for years to come."

According to MnCUN, Humphrey joined the organization in 2007 and was promoted to the chief advocacy position in 2020.

In a prepared statement, Humphrey said, "As a lifelong Minnesotan and career advocate for credit unions, I've seen firsthand how the credit union advantage changes lives and empowers local communities. I'm honored and humbled to become the next president and CEO of the Minnesota Credit Union Network."

At the time of the retirement announcement in July 2022, Cummins said, "Serving as president of the Minnesota Credit Union Network has been the honor of a lifetime. To work with the incredible staff at the Network has been a privilege that far too few people have the opportunity to enjoy. The Network has a bright future, and I will support the transition to new leadership in every way I can."
