A ‘Unique Moment’ Arrives for Advantis Credit Union
The credit union opens its new 12-acre campus after more than six years of work.
Just south of Portland, Ore., on the other side of the Willamette River, you’ll find Oregon City. The small city has been home to the $1.9 billion Advantis Credit Union for nearly 100 years. More than six of those years has been spent working on a 12-acre, 76,211-square-foot campus to bring its back-office staff, who’ve been dispersed in different locations around the metro area, to one location.
Like most plans, the plans to finish the campus for its more than 230 employees were delayed a bit by the COVID-19 pandemic. But, on March 16, credit union executives, employees, members of its board and local officials gathered to officially usher in what Advantis called a unique moment in the credit union’s history.
Advantis President/CEO Jason Werts said, “As we continue to grow and serve our expanding member base, consolidating four separate offices into one location was integral in improving and streamlining resources across the organization. Our new campus creates an inspiring and modern environment that fosters collaboration, creativity and employee wellness inside and out with ample access to natural spaces and walking trails.”
As Werts put it, the pandemic actually helped the plans for the new campus evolve to reflect the changed work lives of employees.
“While the new campus was constructed at the peak of remote work, it created a wonderful opportunity to engage with employees and create a welcoming and flexible space that they are excited about,” Werts said. “While we continue to embrace a flexible schedule, we are hearing extremely positive feedback from our employees that they love the new campus. Our employees were instrumental in the design and the selection of amenities to support an engaging balance with the at-home work option.”
According to Advantis, the new campus features three buildings that frame a landscaped courtyard with “various scaled spaces to meet and gather” as well as open green spaces for larger gatherings and events.
Some building and campus features include water conservation systems, EV charging stations and daylight harvesting techniques that leverage the use of natural light. The walking loop around the campus, with fitness stations, connects to the local trail network.
The credit union did not state the cost of the new campus.
