7 Professionals Promoted, Hired & Honored at 4 Credit Unions

Veronica Giron

Veronica Giron, vice president of business services for the $4 billion, Albuquerque, N.M.-based Nusenda Credit Union, was honored by Albuquerque Business First as one of its Women of Influence. This award recognizes women in leadership positions that have a shared desire to go above and beyond in their careers and communities. Giron joined Nusenda in 2016 and has been a crucial part of the business services team at the credit union, supporting economic growth throughout the state. She is currently in her second year as the finance and budget committee chair for the Commercial Real Estate Women Network, having served on the board of directors from 2019 through 2021.

Kelly Corah

The $16.7 billion, San Jose, Calif.-based First Tech Federal Credit Union promoted Kelly Corah to president of Addison Avenue Investment Services, the credit union’s wealth management organization. She succeeds Scott Jenner, who retired in February. In her new role, she will continue to lead the investment program sales, compliance and client engagement functions, as well as the activities of the credit union’s insurance agency, First Tech Insurance Services. Corah has over three decades of experience leading insurance and investment teams. She has been with First Tech for 25 years and currently serves as the vice chair of the board of trustees for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington.

Ryan Bell

The $1 billion Freedom First Credit Union in Roanoke, Va., hired Ryan Bell as branch manager of the Langhorne Branch, which is scheduled to open in spring 2023 at 2102 Langhorne Rd. in Lynchburg, Va. Bell joined Freedom First in late 2022 to lead the staff who will operate the upcoming location. He brings 15 years of banking experience to Freedom First, and is a long-time member of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s planning committee in Lynchburg.

Connie Tyler

The $2.9 billion, Indianapolis-based Indiana Members Credit Union announced four promotions on its retail operations team.

Connie Tyler was promoted to vice president, branch operations. Tyler has been with IMCU for 37 years and has served in the positions of teller, branch manager and assistant vice president. In her new role, Tyler will provide primary lending support for branches; develop and improve branch productivity and efficiencies; enhance staff product knowledge; coach and develop personnel; and assist managers in staffing and performance.

Kathleen Mitchell

Kathleen Mitchell was promoted to vice president, branch operations. Mitchell has been with IMCU for 31 years as a trainer, branch manager and assistant vice president. In her new role, Mitchell will be responsible for mentorship, training and development of a team of branch managers, and serve as administrator for the lending platform.

Jill Pelley was promoted to assistant vice president, branch operations. Pelley has been with IMCU for 14 years, beginning as a career associate and then serving as a branch manager. In her new role, Pelley will be responsible for maximizing employee effectiveness through coaching and mentoring branch staff.

Shannon Mullen was promoted to assistant vice president, branch operations. Mullen has been with IMCU for 26 years and served in the roles of teller, trainer, mortgage loan officer and branch manager. In her new role, Mullen will be responsible for maximizing employee effectiveness through coaching and mentoring branch staff. She is a certified Master Trainer of Business Development Services and Certified Service Strategies Trainer.

Dan Ruppe

Member Access Processing (MAP), a Kent, Wash.-based card processing aggregator for credit unions, hired Dan Ruppe as SVP of product services. In his new role, Ruppe will lead MAP’s growing suite of payment services, including the management of third-party solutions from the nation’s leading providers. Ruppe brings over three decades of experience in the card payments industry and has held various staff and management positions in the areas of account/service management, systems quality assurance, business analysis, compliance, sales and product management. He previously served at companies including PaySys International, Hogan Systems, PSCU and the combined entities of the Honor Debit/ATM network, the Star Debit/ATM network and First Data Corp.
