CommunityAmerica's Lisa Ginter Elected CUNA Board Chair
Ginter becomes the sixth female to hold this position.
During CUNA’s Governmental Affairs Conference Tuesday, it was announced that Lisa Ginter, president/CEO of the Lenexa, Kan.-based CommunityAmerica Credit Union, was elected to serve as CUNA board chair.
According to a statement from CUNA, Ginter is the 52nd board chair and the sixth female to be elected to that position. Ginter has served in the credit union industry for more than 30 years and has been president/CEO of the $4.7 billion CommunityAmerica since 2015.
“It’s an honor to chair CUNA’s board at a time when the credit union movement is looking to build on great momentum, and I look forward to continued work with CUNA, Leagues and credit unions to make good on our commitment to improve financial well-being,” Ginter said. “Our combination of steadfast focus on our members and determination to advance the communities we serve means credit unions have plenty to work for in the next year and beyond.”
CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle said, “Lisa strongly believes in the capability of credit unions to look for bigger and better ways to serve their communities. We’re excited to have her leading the CUNA board of directors in what’s going to be a pivotal year for the CUNA-League system, and our movement as a whole.”
In a statement from CUNA, board members also elected a new batch of officers. They include:
- Caroline Willard, president/CEO of Cornerstone League, as CUNA vice chair;
- Patrick Pierce, president/CEO of City & County Credit Union ($1.2 billion, St. Paul, Minn.), as CUNA treasurer.
- Brian Best, president/CEO of GTE Financial Credit Union ($2.8 billion, Tampa, Fla.), as CUNA secretary.
- Jim Morrell, president/CEO of Peninsula Credit Union ($282 million, Shelton, Wash.), as CUNA at-large executive committee member.
In all, there are six executive committee members and 21 board directors who serve on CUNA’s board.
