2023 CUNA GAC: Point-Counterpoint Discussion Slated

Over the years, the Walter E. Washington Convention Center has become a familiar venue for thousands of credit union executives and professionals who’ve attended the annual CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference. According to CUNA, this year’s GAC, which runs from Feb. 26 through March 2, will be another packed conference in Washington, D.C. with more than 5,000 people registered to attend.

Of the upcoming event, CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle said, “CUNA GAC is an essential part of the credit union movement and sets up the momentum to achieve our advocacy agenda each year. We’re excited to return to Washington, D.C. for another great event with can’t-miss speakers, important breakout sessions, networking opportunities and so much more.”

Nussle continued, “Our 2022 GAC reminded us just how important it is to meet with policymakers face-to-face. We need to build on our recent legislative successes.”

This is the third in-person GAC since it took a virtual pause during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Included in this year’s lineup of featured speakers are former White House Communications Director for President Obama and Head of Communications for the Hillary Clinton presidential campaign, Jennifer Palmieri, and former Senior Advisor and Deputy Chief of Staff to President George W. Bush Karl Rove.

According to CUNA, Palmieri and Rove will take part in a point-counterpoint discussion on the main issues going on in Washington, D.C. today.

“To successfully advocate for credit union priorities, it’s crucial for CUNA and its members to hear from influential voices across the political spectrum,” CUNA Chief Products and Services Officer Todd Spiczenski said. “I’m confident that credit unions interested in maximizing their advocacy will benefit from the lively and informative discussion.”

The discussion will take place Wednesday, March 1 on the CUNA GAC mainstage.
