The West Monroe, La.-based Centric Federal Credit Union has expanded its field of membership, which now covers 26 additional counties and parishes in Louisiana and Arkansas. The expansion was approved by the NCUA on Jan. 26.

According to a statement from the credit union Tuesday, the expansion will allow the $324 million credit union to connect with the unbanked and underserved communities by providing the population with much-needed financial products and services, as well as financial education resources to the people and businesses in the new field of membership areas.

“We are excited and welcome the opportunity to serve additional people in the Louisiana and Arkansas markets,” Centric President Rodney Parker said. “Centric FCU works earnestly to bring attentive, friendly solutions from start to finish and looks forward to being a great partner to the people in these communities.”

The credit union, which currently serves 38,763 members according to its latest NCUA Call Report, received help with the membership expansion process from the credit union consulting firm Dollar Associates, located in Birmingham, Ala.
