Jennifer Connor-Shumsky

The $1.5 billion Greylock Federal Credit Union in Pittsfield, Mass., announced two promotions.

Jennifer Connor-Shumsky was promoted to assistant vice president, community support and events. In her new role, she is responsible for sponsorships and community support, and manages Greylock’s Quality Time Club, high school scholarship program and new mentorship program. Connor-Shumsky joined Greylock almost five years ago with 27 years of experience as a development professional with Community Health Programs and the Berkshire United Way in Pittsfield. She also serves on the steering committee of the 1Berkshire Youth Leadership Program.

Mark Kaley was promoted to vice president, contact center. He joined Greylock in 2008 as the manager of the contact center. In his new role, Kaley oversees a team of 12 employees who handle every incoming call to Greylock as well as provide internal and external support for online banking inquiries. He is a high school basketball and soccer official in Berkshire County and serves on the Robert “Boog” Powell Memorial Fund committee.

Coastal1 Credit Union ($3 billion, Pawtucket, R.I.) announced two new hires and one promotion.

Kathleen Dougherty was hired as SVP/chief people officer. In her new role, she will oversee every stage of the employee experience from talent acquisition, onboarding, engagement, development and career mobility. She brings over 20 years of experience in human resources, most recently serving at Bank of America. Dougherty received a master’s degree from Bryant University in Smithfield, R.I.

Jeff Kolarik was hired as SVP/chief information officer. In his new role, he will oversee Coastal1’s information technology and digital innovation efforts. Kolarik has been in the operations and technology field for over 35 years, most recently serving as EVP/COO at Bristol County Savings Bank.

Gina Torres was promoted to assistant vice president of information technology applications. In her new role, she will be responsible for business line application operations and planning while driving the tactical direction of business line application support. She has been with the credit union for 22 years, most recently serving as IT applications analyst II.

Atif Naeem

Greater Texas|Aggieland Credit Union ($977 million, Austin, Texas) promoted Atif Naeem to assistant vice president of IT infrastructure. In his new role, he is responsible for managing and modernizing all of the credit union’s technology infrastructure. Naeem joined Greater Texas|Aggieland in 2021, bringing more than 20 years of experience to the IT team. He most recently served as director of IT support for the past year.

Joan Opp

Co-op Solutions in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., announced that Joan Opp, president/CEO of Stanford Federal Credit Union ($3.9 billion, Palo Alto, Calif.), was elected chairperson of the board of directors of Co-op Solutions. She took office Jan. 1 and succeeded Benson Porter, who retired last month. Opp was first elected as a director on the Co-op board in 2015 and was re-elected in 2018 and 2021. Her previous positions on the board included treasurer in 2020 and 2021, and in 2022, she served as vice chairperson of the board and chair of the nominating subcommittee. Opp has been president/CEO of Stanford FCU since 2010. Her prior experience includes eight years as EVP/CFO of Texas Trust Credit Union ($2 billion, Arlington, Texas) and seven years as a partner with Clifton Gunderson LLP, a CPA and consulting firm. Opp is also currently a director of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco and its audit committee chair, and is a member of the Western CUNA Management School board of trustees.

Carma Parrish

The National Credit Union Foundation in Madison, Wis., appointed four board members.

Carma Parrish, CEO of NorthPark Community Credit Union ($44 million, Lebanon, Ind.), was elected following an open nomination process. Parrish assumes the seat previously held by Howard Spencer, a board member of Northland Area Federal Credit Union ($659 million, Alpena, Mich.). Spencer had concluded his third term and was therefore ineligible to run again.

Debbie Smith, president/CEO of Georgia United Credit Union ($2 billion, Duluth, Ga.) was appointed to the seat held for a representative of the CUNA board. She assumes the position held by Patrick Pierce, president of City & County Credit Union ($1.2 billion, St. Paul, Minn.), who did not seek re-election.

The San Diego, Calif.-based credit union core processor Corelation hired Dawn Sirras as chief technology officer. Sirras brings over 20 years’ experience developing and executing strategies in the credit union industry, as well as product management and software development experience. Most recently, she served as the SVP of fintech partnerships at the digital banking CUSO Constellation Digital Partners. Her previous roles have included chief technology officer for Georgia Corporate Federal Credit Union (now the $3.4 billion, Plano, Texas-based Catalyst Corporate Federal Credit Union), a business and technology strategy consultant for credit unions, chief experience officer and head of product development. Her experience includes leading core processing system conversions, application development teams, industry collaboration groups and corporate strategic planning for wholesale and retail financial institutions, as well as emerging software companies.
