Credit Union Launches New Podcast Featuring Senior Senator
United States Senate FCU CEO Timothy Anderson interviews Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon.
The $1.2 billion United States Senate Federal Credit Union in Alexandria, Va., launched its inaugural podcast this week, which featured a sit-down discussion between President/CEO Timothy L. Anderson and Oregon’s Senior Senator Ron Wyden.
In addition to Anderson and Wyden talking about the business model of credit unions and its benefits, the conversation also highlighted Sen. Wyden’s relationship with credit unions, his personal experience as a member of USSFCU and his passion for helping America’s small businesses.
The pair discussed the role small community lenders like credit unions play in providing opportunity for America’s main street businesses. Sen. Wyden has been a strong supporter of legislation that empowers credit unions to serve more of their local small business members, USSFCU said.
“America is at its best when it gives everyone a chance to get ahead. And that’s what credit unions do,” Wyden said.
Anderson and Wyden also discussed inflation, interest rates, the economy and the central liquidity fund.
“It’s a true honor to sit down with the Senator, a true credit union advocate, and to share our passion for the movement,” Anderson said.
Carrie Lazar, USSFCU’s content marketing and communications specialist, said the idea for the podcast came after Sen. Wyden was originally interviewed for a regular portion of the credit union’s quarterly newsletter called Member Spotlight.
“We thought it would be a great piece for launching the podcast we’ve been wanting to do for a while now,” she said. “Mr. Anderson makes a great host. The podcast is led by our marketing department, and we hope to do one significant interview monthly.”
