Partnership Supports a New Class of CU Member Service Specialists
The Southeastern League and Generation USA team up with Envision CU to educate aspiring frontline CU employees.
Job seekers in Florida will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to become a credit union member service specialist free of charge and potentially interview for a position with the Tallahassee, Fla.-based Envision Credit Union thanks to a partnership between Envision, the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Affiliates, and Generation USA.
According to an announcement from LSCU & Affiliates Wednesday, the $817 million Envision joined the lineup of Generation USA’s employer partners, which already includes seven other credit unions. Generation USA is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit that provides free job training, placement and career support for people who may not otherwise have access to these services.
Generation USA previously partnered with LSCU & Affiliates’ foundation, the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation (SECUF), to roll out the Credit Union Member Services Specialist Program – a free, online, five-week course offered by Generation USA that covers the basics of credit unions, call centers, account management and online banking. The Credit Union Member Services Specialist Program is an initiative of the SECUF’s Community Spark Program, which was established in 2020 to address community development issues in Alabama, Georgia and Florida.
The educational program is open to people 18 and over with a high school diploma or GED who live in or near Jacksonville, Tallahassee, Orlando, Tampa or Miami, Fla. Interested individuals can apply for the next course, slated to begin Feb. 13, on Generation USA’s website; upon completion, they’ll have the opportunity to interview for a video teller, in-person teller or call center representative position with one of Generation USA’s employer partners.
“Now is a great time for people to seek opportunities to improve their financial lives, and we are very excited to partner with the League of Southeastern Credit Unions and Generation USA to offer members of our community a path to a rewarding career in the credit union industry,” Hollie Maddox, SVP COO for Envision, stated.
“We are thrilled about the growth of the Southeastern Credit Union Foundation’s Community Spark Program in Florida,” League of Southeastern Credit Unions President Samantha Beeler added. “By partnering with Generation USA, we look forward to helping adult learners develop the skillsets needed to advance in today’s ever-changing workplace. While industries across the country are currently struggling to find and retain trained workers, we are proud of the collaborative effort by Florida credit unions to continue to improve people’s lives whether it is through credit union membership or by creating career opportunities for Floridians.”
