The $2.7 billion, Virginia Beach, Va.-based Chartway Credit Union announced two board role changes.

George E. Sauer III, a retired U.S. Navy captain, retired from the board on Dec. 31, 2022 after more than 30 years of service and has moved to emeritus status. Sauer began his volunteer service in 1987 as Chartway's military liaison officer and became a member of the board in 2008. Over the years, Sauer has served in various roles, including chair of the strategic planning committee, vice chair of the Directors' Memorial Scholarship committee and board chair. In addition, he served on the supervisory, asset/liability management, governance and policy, executive compensation, legislative and new services committees.

Curtis A. Price, who previously served as an associate director, was appointed to serve on the board following Sauer's retirement. He will continue to serve as a member of the asset/liability and management committee. Price is an experienced accountant and financial analyst who currently works for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command – Mid-Atlantic. Prior to working for the Department of the Navy, he served as an auditor with the public accounts for the State of Virginia and as an accountant for both CraneMasters and WellsColeman. He holds an MBA from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va.

Brad Rowe Brad Rowe

The $2 billion Consumers Credit Union in Kalamazoo, Mich., announced two new hires.

Brad Rowe was hired as a financial advisor. Rowe brings experience working in similar roles with other financial institutions, and holds Series 7, 63 and 65 financial licenses. Consumers offers non-deposit investment products and services to members via a contract with CUSO Financial Services, L.P., a registered broker-dealer and SEC Registered Investment Advisor.

Kent Coenen was hired as business development manager for the Lansing, Mich., market. Coenen has been serving communities with his professional expertise for nearly two decades. In his new role, he will help Consumers members grow their businesses through a variety of means, including business loans, and treasury and deposit services.

Brad Brown Brad Brown

The $269 million, Bowling Green, Ky.-based Service One Credit Union announced four promotions.

Brad Brown was promoted to chief administrative officer. Brown joined SOCU in 2012. In his new role, he will be responsible for the initiatives undertaken in connection with the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) program and SOCU's Proper Foundation. In addition, he will continue to be responsible for compliance, risk management and facility planning.

Mathew Hutcheson was promoted to vice president of finance. Hutcheson has worked in SOCU's accounting department for the past 12 years. With this promotion, he assumes a leadership role in the credit union's accounting and finance organization, and will assist in guiding the strategic direction of the department and organization.

Jason Ross was promoted to vice president of loan development and sales. Ross joined SOCU in 2018 and has 19 years of experience in banking and lending. In his new role, he will be responsible for promoting a strong service culture while managing the sales of mortgage, commercial, small business and consumer loans.

Elizabeth Lindsey was promoted to assistant vice president of member experience. Lindsey joined SOCU in 2019. In her new role, she will be responsible for assuring a strong service culture and positive member experience across the organization, which will include gathering member feedback, finding solutions, and using the information to improve processes and ensure exceptional member experiences.
