8 Credit Unions Announce Career Moves

New senior-level employees and executives are hired at One Nevada CU, Westerra CU, Elevations CU and Allegacy FCU.

Jesse Shearin

The $1.3 billion, Las Vegas-based One Nevada Credit Union promoted Jesse Shearin to vice president of information technology. In his new role, Shearin will lead One Nevada’s IT support and infrastructure team and assist with developing One Nevada’s IT strategy and technological vision. In addition, he will lead a team of IT professionals as he oversees the information technology needs for the entire credit union’s operation. Shearin has over 20 years of experience in IT and began his career at One Nevada in 2012 as a systems engineer. Over the past decade, he has served in various capacities within the credit union’s IT department.

Burton Clyde

Burton Clyde, chairman of the board of directors for the $1 billion, Albuquerque, N.M.-based Sandia Area Federal Credit Union, stepped down after 28 years and became the credit union’s first director emeritus. Clyde joined Sandia Area in 1978 and was elected chairman shortly after he joined the board in 1995. He had a 30-year Air Force career followed by a diverse civilian career that included being a professor of management, psychology and sociology.

The $1.9 billion, Denver-based Westerra Credit Union hired Jeff White as director of mortgage development and sales. White brings 33 years of mortgage experience, including 27 years in leadership roles where he recruited, mentored and retained peak-producing sales teams. In his most recent role at NewRez, he launched a residential mortgage joint venture with Corcoran Global Living. Previously, he spent over two decades with Wells Fargo Home Mort- gage, eventually assuming a combined role of regional and area manager and leading a direct staff of eight branch managers and total staff of 98.

Erin Mendez, president/CEO for the $9 billion Patelco Credit Union in Dublin, Calif., ranked in the top 10 of American Banker’s Most Powerful Women in Credit Unions 2022. The award was created this year to share the stories of the top 25 women leading the credit union industry through times of rapid and unprecedented change, and celebrates the senior executives guiding the future of the credit union industry, while also examining issues of mentorship and inclusion. Mendez has been with Patelco since 2013.

Elevations Credit Union ($3.3 billion, Boulder, Colo.) hired Wendy Beswick as chief marketing officer. Beswick brings over 20 years of experience in Fortune 100 financial companies and credit unions, having most recently served at Service Credit Union ($5.1 billion, Portsmouth, N.H.), where she oversaw marketing, communications, community relations, financial wellness and the Service CU Impact Foundation. Prior to joining Service, she served in various marketing positions at global financial services companies such as BlackRock, Charles Schwab and Morgan Stanley.

Keith Burton

Keith Burton, president/CEO for the $440 million, Granite City, Ill.-based GCS Credit Union, received the 2022 Hall of Fame Leadership Award from the Illinois Credit Union League at the League’s annual convention earlier this month in Chicago. The Hall of Fame Leadership Award recognizes an individual’s contribution to the credit union movement in Illinois at the state and/or national level. In addition to serving as president/CEO for GCS, Burton is a volunteer, board member and previous executive board chair for the United Way; a Granite City Area Community Foundation board member since 2016; a Granite City Sports Hall of Fame member since 2012; a Coordinated Youth and Human Services board member since 2019; and a past board member of the Granite City High School CEO Program and Southwest Madison County Chamber of Commerce.

Vicki Erickson

Vicki Roscoe Erickson, SVP of marketing and communications for the $734 million, Maple Grove, Minn.-based TopLine Financial Credit Union, was named a 2022 Notable Leader in Marketing by Minnesota business publication Twin Cities Business. In her role at TopLine Financial, Roscoe Erickson is responsible for overseeing all aspects of marketing and communications, including member experience, brand awareness and stewardship, internal and external communications, omnichannel integrated advertising, public relations, financial education and community initiatives. She is also the president of the TopLine Credit Union Foundation.

Todd Surratt

The $2.1 billion Allegacy Federal Credit Union in Winston-Salem, N.C., hired Todd Surratt as senior business services officer. Surratt most recently served as the SBA business development officer for the $3.9 billion, Winston-Salem-based Truliant Federal Credit Union. He also brings a wide range of experience as an entrepreneur and broker, as well as a strong background in commercial real estate, lending and consulting. In his new role, he will provide business member support, analyze and resolve complex issues, develop and maintain profitability through lending and deposit relationships, and manage portfolios. As part of the Allegacy leadership team, Surratt will also develop new business members and safeguard current business members. He holds a master’s degree from Louisiana State University’s Graduate School of Banking.
