floridacentral Credit Union Names Linh Dang CEO

Dang replaces retiring President/CEO Laida Garcia at the Tampa, Fla., credit union on Nov. 1.

Following an extensive search, the $611 million, Tampa, Fla.-based floridacentral Credit Union chose Linh Dang, a longtime executive for Florida’s Addition Financial Credit Union, to take over the president/CEO role, floridacentral announced Wednesday. She will replace retiring President/CEO Laida Gardia on Nov. 1.

Dang brings over 27 years of credit union experience to her new role as president/CEO of floridacentral. She started her career in credit unions in 1995 at Gulfstates Credit Union ($37 million, Maitland, Fla.) as a staff accountant, and in 1997, was named comptroller at Seminole Schools Federal Credit Union in Samford, Fla., where she later became vice president of operations. Seminole Schools FCU merged into CFE Federal Credit Union in 2015, which changed its named to Addition Financial in 2019.

For the past 19 years, Dang has lead various teams and strategic initiatives at the $2.6 billion, Lake Mary-based Addition Financial, including branch operations, high school branches, the call center, digital services and two credit union mergers, according to the announcement. Since 2017, Dang has served as chief development officer for Addition Financial, leading the community engagement and partnerships, leadership and talent development, marketing and project management teams. She also oversaw the credit union’s 2019 rebrand and name change.

Dang also brings numerous community impact roles to the table, the credit union said. She serves on non-profit boards, including as chair of the University of Central Florida Alumni Board and on several UCF advisory boards. In addition, she holds an MBA from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla., and is a graduate of the Credit Union Executive CEO Institute. Her past accolades have included receiving the 2019 Exceptional Leader Award from the CUES, the Valencia College Distinguished Alumna Award and the Honorable Knight Award from the UCF College of Business, as well as being named the Women Who Mean Business Executive of the Year by the Orlando Business Journal.
