America's Credit Union Museum Names 'Herstory' Inductees
Twenty visionary women will be honored during the September premiere of the new interactive exhibit.
Ahead of the premiere of its new exhibit honoring the contributions of women who advanced the credit union movement, America’s Credit Union Museum named 20 “Herstory” inductees on Tuesday.
The exhibit, “Credit Union Women Making History: Herstory,” will premiere at ACUM’s 20th Anniversary celebration on Sept. 29 in Manchester, N.H. During this event, 20 women will be formally inducted.
“Herstory was created as a lasting legacy of women whose contributions have propelled the movement forward for generations,” ACUM Executive Director Stephanie Smith said in a prepared statement. “We’re excited to honor these women and celebrate their inspirational leadership and their commitment to positive change for credit unions.”
In addition to its physical display at the museum, the interactive Herstory exhibit also will be available online.
The 2022 Inductees are:
- Sarah Canepa Bang, senior advisor, the NCUA
- Diana Dykstra, president/CEO, California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues
- Roshara Holub, retired president of the Missouri Credit Union Association
- Gigi Hyland, executive director of the National Credit Union Foundation
- Lucy Ito, interim president/CEO of Orange County’s Credit Union
- Lois Kitsch, founder of CU Difference
- Harriet May, retired president/CEO of GECU
- Maria Martinez, president/CEO of Border Federal Credit Union
- Susan Mitchell, president/CEO of Mitchell Stankovic & Associates
- Lily Newfarmer, president/CEO of Tarrant County’s Credit Union
- Renee Sattiewhite, president/CEO of the African American Credit Union Coalition
- Carol Schillios, founder of Schillios Consulting
- Denise Wymore, head of marketing at QCash Financial
In addition, ACUM will recognize a number of inductees posthumously, including Agnes Gartland, Elizabeth “Sis” Hamilton, Louise Herring, Dora Maxwell, Angela Melville, Rose Nevener and Miriam Rivera Lieb.
