Hanscom FCU Promotes Five Employees
Plus, UNCLE CU hires a vice president of mortgage lending and Together CU welcomes its first DEI ambassador.

The $674 million, Livermore, Calif.-based UNCLE Credit Union hired Michele Murphy as vice president of mortgage lending. Murphy brings rich experience in real estate and mortgage lending, having begun her career in the industry in 1989. She previously worked with four credit unions: OE Federal Credit Union ($1.4 billion, Livermore), KeyPoint Credit Union ($1.7 billion, San Jose, Calif.), Chevron Federal Credit Union ($4.8 billion, Oakland, Calif.) and SF Fire Credit Union ($1.7 billion, San Francisco). Murphy is a former member of CUNA Lending Council, a CUNA-certified Credit Union Business Lending Professional, a member of the board of directors for the East Bay Chapter of the California Association of Mortgage Professionals, and a founder and former board member of the National Charity League – Livermore Chapter.

The $1.8 billion, Hanscom Air Force Base, Mass.-based Hanscom Federal Credit Union announced five promotions.
Maria Porto was promoted to vice president, financial wellness. In her new role, she will lead Hanscom’s newly-created financial wellness team as the credit union brings into sharp focus its mission of being the trusted advisor that members turn to for unbiased financial guidance. Financial education and member engagement have been central to Porto’s 20-year career at Hanscom. She most recently led the partner relations team, where her team provided financial education seminars and webinars for both members and the general public.
Mike Rzeszutek was promoted to assistant vice president, financial wellness coaching. In his new role, he will join Porto to help bring the personal aspect of the financial wellness team to life. Rzeszutek has been with Hanscom for nearly a decade and in the credit union industry for 15 years. Formerly Hanscom’s assistant vice president, sales and service, Rzeszutek provided detailed product training to employees, ensuring they were able to match members’ individual needs to appropriate Hanscom products and services.
Sue Dunbar was promoted to SVP, residential lending. She joined Hanscom in 2016 as vice president, mortgage lending, managing mortgage sales, processing and servicing. Effective Aug. 1, Dunbar will begin overseeing Hanscom’s 11-person home equity lending team, bringing a total of 34 employees under her purview. Prior to joining Hanscom, Dunbar worked for several credit unions in the Boston area, and she holds considerable knowledge of the mortgage lending industry.
Dan Picard was promoted to SVP, consumer lending and collections. Picard joined Hanscom in 2019 as a vice president, overseeing lending areas including home equity, direct and indirect lending, student loans and collections. In his new role, Picard, who has held senior-level positions in the credit union industry for 25 years, will develop and lead the strategic and operational plans for direct and indirect lending to support the credit union’s overarching strategic plan.
Heather Asimakopulos was promoted to vice president, product management. In her new role, she will lead Hanscom’s newly-created product management department, which oversees the lifecycle of Hanscom’s deposit, loan and digital products, and ensures the credit union’s product offering remains aligned with its financial wellness strategy and members’ ever-evolving needs. Asimakopulos joined the credit union in 2019 and has spent the last three years as Hanscom’s compliance manager on its risk team.
MIDWEST
The $2.3 billion, St. Louis, Mo.-based Together Credit Union hired Nikia Montgomery to the newly-created role of diversity, equity and inclusion ambassador. In her new role, using advocacy, education and innovative solutions, Montgomery will evolve the organization’s practices and processes to ensure that DEI is seamlessly woven into every aspect of operations at the credit union. Before joining the credit union, Montgomery served as the vice president, territory manager at Capital One, where she helped launch the first-ever retail card partnership with Walmart, and led a diversity and inclusion group within the partnership team. She holds an MBA from Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo.
