As the Uvalde community continues to work through its incalculable loss after the tragic Robb Elementary school shooting that claimed the lives of 19 children and two teachers in May, Texas credit unions are continuing their efforts to raise funds to support the grieving families.
Two employees of the $134 million River City Federal Credit Union lost relatives, River City President/CEO Jeff Ivey recently reported to the Cornerstone Credit Union League.

The employees' relatives were 10-year-old Xavier James Lopez and 10-year-old Ameri Jo Lopez.
A spokesperson for the San Antonio-based River City said the credit union plans to continue to support its staff and the Uvalde victims however possible.
Those who wish to donate can send deposits or checks to PO Box 12689 San Antonio, Texas, 78212-0689 Attn: Uvalde Memorial Fund River City FCU.
"We'll split the proceeds equally between both accounts unless specified otherwise," the River City spokesperson said. "They're also welcome to make a donation in person if they happen to visit one of our branches."
Since Uvalde is part of its field of membership, the $236 million Border Federal Credit Union in Del Rio said it created a web page to ask its 25,491 members and other persons to make donations to help the families over the long term.
The Border team is researching ways to raise and distribute the funds that will make the greatest impact.
More than $14,000 has been raised so far for the Uvalde victims and their families, the Cornerstone league reported in its newsletter.
