10 CU Professionals Start New Roles While One Retires
Plus, new board leaders are announced at Allegacy FCU and NAFCU.
WEST
The $1 billion University Credit Union in Los Angeles announced two new hires and two promotions.
Cory McDaniel was hired as SVP, chief lending officer. McDaniel brings over a decade of credit union lending experience. He specializes in loan growth, program and product implementation, and sales strategy.
Pam Blackburn was hired as SVP, chief people officer. Blackburn brings close to three decades of experience in human resources. Throughout her career, she’s overseen and grown the HR departments of several companies, leading teams of over 100 employees to meet the needs of thousands of employees. Blackburn holds an MBA from Leeds University in Leeds, United Kingdom.
Chiasia Moua was promoted to SVP, chief experience officer. She previously served as vice president, member services for UCU. Moua joined UCU in 2019 and has over 21 years of experience in member services in the credit union industry. Her career has spanned fraud detection, management, recruiting and implementing organizational performance initiatives. She holds an MBA from Brandman University (now UMass Global) in Irvine, Calif., and is pursuing her doctorate of business administration.
Serge Rizk was promoted to EVP, CFO. He previously served as SVP, CFO for UCU. Rizk joined UCU in 2019 and has over 17 years of financial experience, including 10 years in the credit union arena. His specialties include strategy, products and services, pricing and profitability, and asset liability management. Rizk holds a master’s in management science and engineering from Stanford University.
The $7.5 billion Redwood Credit Union in Santa Rosa, Calif., announced three promotions.
Kashi Moore-Stallworth was promoted to vice president of human resources. Moore-Stallworth joined RCU in early 2021 as HR manager, bringing more than 20 years of progressive human resources experience.
Lorielle Hess-Fiedler was promoted to human resources manager. Hess-Fiedler has been with RCU for more than eight years. In her new role, she will oversee the benefits and leave of absence programs, as well as HR systems and reporting functions.
Sheila Cronin was also promoted to human resources manager. Cronin joined RCU in 2019. In her new role, she will be responsible for the employee relations, compensation and HR compliance areas. She holds more than two decades of experience in HR.
EAST
The $2.4 billion, Littleton, Mass.-based Workers Credit Union announced two promotions and a new hire.
Betty Anders was promoted to assistant vice president – mortgage origination. In her new role, she will manage and oversee the internal and external mortgage loan officers for the credit union. Previously, Anders served as Workers’ senior mortgage loan officer. She has more than 30 years of experience in banking.
Joseph Petruziello was promoted to vice president and broker relationship manager. In his new role, he will focus on building business-to-business relationships that allow mortgage brokers to offer mortgage products to a wider audience. Previously, Petruziello served as a branch sales manager for Workers.
Eric Hague was hired as senior mortgage loan officer. In his new role, he will help members walk through the mortgage loan process, whether they’re refinancing or buying their first home. Hague brings more than 10 years of mortgage expertise and customer service experience to the credit union. Previously, he served as senior loan officer at Ross Mortgage Company in Leominster, Mass.
SOUTH
The $2 billion, Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Allegacy Federal Credit Union announced Borgia Walker has been appointed chair of Allegacy’s board of directors. Walker joined the Allegacy board in 2011 after serving on its supervisory committee since 2007 and as supervisory chair since 2011. As board chair, she now serves on the executive and compensation committees. She succeeds Ann Johnston, who retired from the chair role after serving 20 years in the position and remains a board member. Walker is the vice president of HR at Reynolds American, Inc. Her previous roles at Reynolds have included a number of leadership roles in HR, including in the areas of talent, organizational effectiveness, diversity and inclusion, shared services, rewards and HR business partners, supporting a number of functions. She has also held prior leadership roles in internal audit, regulatory governance and finance. Walker serves on the board of the YWCA and as a member of the Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MBA from Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo.
LEAGUES
Amy Vigil, vice president of association services for the Credit Union Association of New Mexico, will retire in November 2022. Vigil is CUANM’s longest-serving employee, having served 19 years with the trade organization. Vigil previously served as executive director for the New Mexico Credit Union Education Foundation, leading two large fundraising campaigns for the University of New Mexico’s Children’s Hospital. She is a Credit Union Development Educator, and in retirement, she hopes to serve on a local credit union board and work as an extra in New Mexico’s film industry.
TRADES
Gary Grinnell, president/CEO of the $2.3 billion Corning Credit Union in Corning, N.Y., was elected as NAFCU’s board chair for the trade association’s 2022-2023 board of directors. He will also serve as the board’s Eastern Region director.
